Grooming the groom by Lab Series Skin Care
Posted by Yours In Bridal3-in-1 Post Shave for the groomed-groom
Even with heat returning this weekend don't be fooled. Fall and even winter days are closer than you think. Just like your bride, you want to make sure that your skin is ready for your ‘close up’. More than that, now with your new position “as groom-to-be” isn’t it time you upgraded your skincare?
For over twenty years, Lab Series Skincare For Men has been the leader in the shave category, creating technologically advanced formulas that increase the level of comfort and efficiency during the shave experience. With 3-In-1 Post-Shave, the Lab Series Skincare for Men team of scientists have created a post-shaving hero, an exclusive all-in-one treatment that addresses men’s most common shave problems in one easy step.
The 3-In-1 Post Shave treats razor bumps, relieves ingrown hairs and delays the 5 o’clock shadow (ideal for all day photo opportunities). Lab Series also offers some wonderful grooming kits / travel kits for destination weddings, groomsmen gifts or just a little treat of each product (you want your groomsmen looking good for those pictures too right?).
“When developing 3-In-1 Post-Shave, we were determined to create a multi-benefit treatment formula that addressed the major causes of shaving discomfort by looking at the way facial hair grows, and how it could be controlled to improve the shaving experience,” said Matthew Teri, Vice President, Corporate Product Innovation, The Estée Lauder Companies. “If you can refine the beard hair, not only will it grow back softer and finer for a smoother, faster shave, but it will help reduce the incidence of becoming ingrown. Finer, softer beard hair also means you can shave less often.”
Traditionally weddings have been ‘about the bride’, but trust me she wants you to look just as good as she does. 3-In-1 Post-Shave is the easiest way to achieve a flawless shave, smooth skin and that well- groomed look.

Beginning January 1st 2002, Curacao has officially made it legal for any non-residents to get married on the island. All necessary documents will need to be submitted a minimum of two months prior to the wedding date to the Office of Civil Registry in Willemstad, Curaçao, either by mail or in person, so that there is enough time to process the paperwork. As well you may still prefer to have a civil marriage performed in your own country and have only the religious blessing/ ceremony done on the island. In this case, you will need to submit a copy of the documents needed to the hotel for us to forward to the minister who will perform the ceremony as proof that you are already legally married. Couples residing abroad who wish to marry in Curaçao should take account of certain procedures that must be followed before they can enter into matrimony on this island.

Curaçao and the perfect location pt.1- Curaçao Avila Hotel
Posted by Yours In BridalCuraçao Avila Hotel
With destination weddings on the rise, there are so many islands and yes countries to visit. As I try to make your job a bit easier, I’ve been able to gather information about the beautiful island of Curaçao. There is just so much to see and do, that this is going to be a four-part series about the island. Today we are going to focus on the Avila hotel. If you are looking for someplace that could truly be your home-away-from-home, this is the location. The staff and private beaches should be enough to interest you, the since of beauty and peace will bring you back again and again.
Curaçao offers all the ingredients for the ideal wedding – a lovely climate, historical country yards, and beaches shaded by coconut trees and washed with crystal clear blue waters. Discover the perfect ambiance for your wedding – whether you desire a beach celebration, or one in an 18th-century church or at one of our renowned hotels and resorts.
Can you tell me about your space, locations and opportunities for weddings?
Avila Hotel – Family run for generations, the Avila Hotel can boast a unique history that covers more then two hundred years. Time seems to stand still here. Hotel is a beautiful Dutch Colonial style mansion. It is estimated that the original building was built at the end of the 18th century. During the British rule at the beginning of the 19th century, it became the residence of the British Governors and later on that of the Dutch. The original part of the complex was called "La Belle Alliance". Another building of great historical importance on the Avila grounds is the cheerful seaside cupola known as the Octagon because of its octagonal shape. Around 1812, the sisters of the Venezuelan liberator Simon Bolivar lived at the Octagon during their years of exile from the Venezuelan independence war against Spain. Today this building is a much-sought venue to host elegant wedding ceremonies and receptions. The top of our chart is a wedding ceremony at the historic Octagon tower museum with ocean view and authentic colonial antique furnishings. It’s like taking an elegant step back in time! After the ceremonies a torch-lit, sit-down dinner on the beach is the perfect ending to an unforgettable day. The “Queen’s beach” is a favorite. This is a unique private beach which can be served for a private wedding ceremony, toast and or dinner.
What are the heavy times of year you're seeing brides?
Avila Hotel – We host weddings and honeymooners all year round so there are no specific “heavy” high demand times. What makes Curacao and the Avila Hotel a great choice is that the island is out of the hurricane-belt. Thus, it is not affected by these tropical storms which can be a potential spoiler for a Caribbean wedding event.
What are the best/signature experiences can a wedding party expect - or most importantly, if a couple is looking for a venue, why would they choose your space/island vs. another?
Avila Hotel – The serene and peaceful setting of the resort; the unique and historical venues available on the property to host the ceremonies; The collection of luxurious suites and rooms that offer one-of-a kind views and settings: The Bolivar Suite....easily one of the most beautiful suites of any resort on the island, features 1,544 square feet of living space and fabulous grand views of the azure Caribbean Sea and the coastline of Curaçao from its wraparound balcony and Suite 176 of the Belle Alliance suites with its own private beach area and ocean & beach views. And of course the acclaimed Blues Wing rooms 290 and 291 which are located all the way at the end of the pier with unparalleled views of the sea and....lots of privacy.
Tell me about the catering, bridal suite, adventures and anything else you want to share with a bride/couple.
Avila Hotel – The Avila Hotel has an event planning department staffed by professionals with years of experience in hosting weddings on the hotel property. They will work tirelessly with the bride/couple to ensure that their special day will be a memorable and perfect one. The Events department is the central contact venue to coordinate all aspects of wedding planning: selection of the venue, dining and catering planning, coordination with 3rd party wedding planners, etc.
Can you tell me about marriage requirements, costs or restrictions?
Avila Hotel –The Avila Hotel events department works with a handful of qualified and reputable 3rd party wedding planners who have the expertise to guide the couple planning to get married in Curaçao through the legal requirements. Costs vary and are quoted on a case-by-case basis. The basic legal requirements to legally get married in Curaçao are summarized as follows:
First, you have to write a letter stating you want to get married on the island of Curacao. List 2 dates that you would like to have your marriage to take place, put 1st option and 2nd option. Also in the letter you have to specify if you would like the marriage to take place at the registry office or outside. This letter has to be signed by both Bride and groom. In the letter please inform us both Bride and Grooms actual address.( Email letter is not applicable, it can be a scanned letter but signed by both)
Second, you need an original copy of both Bride and groom’s Birth certificate. It has to be an apostille and not more than 1 year old.
Third, you need a original copy of both Bride and groom’s Citizenship. It has to be apostille and not more than 6moths old. If one of the partners was divorced we need a original copy of his of her’s Divorce decree.
Finally, a copy of both Bride and Groom’s passport

The Las Vegas of the Caribbean, welcome to Antigua and Barbuda
Posted by Yours In BridalWedding on Fryers Beach
Nestled in the heart of the Caribbean Sea, Antigua and Barbuda is poised as the Romance Capital of the World. Rich with a history of naval forts and relics, synonymous with a colonial past and the plethora of natural beauty that abounds, Antigua and Barbuda is certainly the love nest of the Caribbean. There are breath taking golden sunset and watch it simmer into the warm sea, white sand beaches and Barbuda’s pink cotton sand. This is an island where nothing matters but the one you’re with.
Shermain Jeremy, tourism officer, for the Antigua and Barbuda Department of Tourism, spent some time speaking with me about her beautiful country. The more she spoke, the more I wanted to hop on the next flight to see it for myself. Of course, my job is to ask the questions for you about getting married in Antigua and Barbuda, so here is a bit of our conversation.
Can you tell me about Antigua and Barbuda and opportunities for weddings there?
Most of the hotels on Antigua and Barbuda offer wedding and honeymoon packages and come ready with wedding planner, marriage officer, venue etc. Couples also have access to other romantic and picturesque aspects of the islands where they can host their own personalized wedding.
What are the heavy times of year you're seeing brides?
June, which is also considered as the Romance Month in Antigua and Barbuda. This is also really good to note if you have readers who are considering getting engaged and want to create a surprise. Our Romance Month gives a wonderful and additional option to Valentine’s Day, when so many people get engaged.
What are the best/signature experiences can a wedding party expect - or most importantly, if a couple is looking for a venue, why would they choose your space vs. another venue?
Antigua and Barbuda is considered the Vegas of the Caribbean because couples can get married in a day, even cruise ship travelers can enjoy same day weddings. There is no residency requirement. Antigua and Barbuda is rich in culture, history and natural beauty and serves as the perfect backdrop to any wedding.
Tell me about the catering, bridal suite, adventures and anything else you want to share with a couple.
The bride can enjoy a horse and boggy ride to the alter, or take a yacht to her wedding, or the newly married couple can enjoy a boat ride and sail into the sunset. Antigua and Barbuda has lots of activities and couples can enjoy day cruises around the island on a party boat, horseback riding, parasailing, bird watching, scenic tours around the island, picnics on the beach, dining at one of our many restaurants, take a day trip to Barbuda and enjoy the pink sands on a private beach, or visit one of our many private islands off the coast of the main isles.
Like all destination wedding locations there are rules/requirements. Here is what you need to get married in Antigua?
There is:
No waiting period
No residency requirements and
Cruise passengers can enjoy same day weddings
In other words…
1. Complete the application and pay fees (a registration fee of US$40, special marriage license is US$150, and the Marriage Officer's fee is US$50 – total US$240)
2. Confirm a date, time and venue for your wedding and…
3. Congratulations! You’re married!
Personally, I like the idea of Vegas on the high-seas. With so many places to get married on the island, no waiting period and for a nominal fee, this just might be the place to consider.

Picturing your Ketubah in a different way
Posted by Yours In BridalModern Ketubah by Daniel Sroka
A gifted photographer can tell a story with a single shot. There are some whose photos take your breath away. This is the kind of person you are looking for to capture those moments at your wedding. Today however, I want to introduce you to a photographer whose unique style changes the traditional ketubah and creates another photographic moment in time.
Modern Ketubah by Daniel Sroka
A ketubah is a work of art that uses images and words to express the love and commitment of your marriage vows. While the ketubah has its roots in the Jewish wedding tradition, its beauty has become embraced by couples from all different religions and cultures. After the wedding, the ketubah is usually hung in a place of honor in the home, and serves as a daily reminder of the vows they have made to each other on their wedding.
Modern Ketubah by Daniel Sroka
Daniel Sroka is an artist and designer who creates fine art wedding ketubahs from his collection of abstract photography of nature. While I am not expert in the Jewish Wedding tradition, I do know a work of art when I see one. With one of Daniel’s creations you will have a unique and meaningful daily reminder of your love and promises made. In my opinion they are simply beautiful.

Melts in your mouth, not in your hand - Le Whif
Posted by Yours In BridalWhat Le Whif looks like
How many times have you wanted just a touch of chocolate without the calories? Have you ever said “If only I could inhale my chocolate, it might take the edge off my craving? Well if you’ve ever thought of or had wild dreams of chocolate, then I think I’ve found the product for you. This is not only a great idea to give to your bridesmaids, but a way to fulfill your craving with out the calories. Yes you can eat your chocolate - by breathing it!
Le Whif is the creative vision of Harvard professor David Edwards, lead inventor of Le Whif. He has said, "Over the centuries we've been eating smaller and smaller quantities at shorter and shorter intervals. It seemed to us that eating was tending toward breathing, so, with a mix of culinary art and aerosol science, we've helped move eating habits to their logical conclusion. We call it whiffing."
I’ve asked Tom Hadfield the spokesperson of LeWhif the question I know you’re all thinking… Do you think this would be a 'benefit' to the workout process for people who want/need to work out but don't want to give up their chocolate fix?
Yes, maybe. Think about it. When you eat a chocolate bar, most of the chocolate passes through your mouth without actually contacting your tastebuds. From a taste point of view, most of the chocolate is not serving you, apart from delivering calories through digestion. By whiffing, the chocolate has no chance to pass through your mouth without falling on your tongue or other surfaces in your mouth. Most of the chocolate you whiff, you taste. If taste is driving you to eat more than you wish to eat, Le Whif can help.
So how does LeWhif work? Well you place Le Whif between your lips and inhale, through your mouth. Fine chocolate powder leaves Le Whif, enters your mouth, and remains there.
What about calories if there is chocolate in your mouth?
The total mass of chocolate powder in Le Whif is about 200 milligrams. This amounts to less than 1 calorie of chocolate.
How do we practically consume chocolate in Le Whif?
A single puff from Le Whif normally puts about 50 milligrams of chocolate in your mouth. This means that from a single Whif, you can enjoy up to four puffs of chocolate. Between puffs you can close Le Whif and put it in your pocket, pulling it out again minutes, or hours, later. The chocolate remains contained and protected in Le Whif between uses.
So I tried it and you know what, it’s really pretty good. I tried the chocolate mint, and the raspberry chocolate. Each gave the sensation that I was having a chocolate bar without the melty chocolate mess.
I’ve also asked if they can do private labels if you wanted to this to be a bridal party gift or a part of your wedding table (hey, a unique thing to add to your candy table huh?? Just a thought!), and they can.
With a minimum order of 100 piece (which they will do at a discount – yea!!) I think you can easily fill this by giving 1 or two per person at your wedding…or keeping a few extra for your self.
Le Whif is Le Magnifique! To purchase them contact: Le Whif is http://www.laboshop.fr/lewhif.html I've been assured that they will have locations in the US this fall, but don't let this stop you from purchasing it now.

Archie and Veronica sitting in a tree...
Posted by Yours In BridalPhoto with thanks from Archie Comics
I simply can't believe it. I'm sure Betty can't either. After years of dating, being the faithful girlfriend and all of the antics that Veronica threw her way, today Betty learns that her dreams to marry Archie are over.
Archie asked Veronica to marry him? I know...what is he thinking?? Maybe it was her money that finally won him over (say it isn't so!!). Maybe it was Betty's constant hinting (hey it's possible). Perhaps Archie just saw a kinder, softer Veronica than any of us realized.
Let's face it it happens. Some people we think are supposed to be together for ever and didn't: Brad and Jen; J Lo and Ben; Farrah and Ryan and I'm sure the list goes on. This however, could send shock waves through out the comic industry and change Archie forever.
So you're not a comic book fan that's ok. How would you handle it if your boyfriend of years changed his mind? What would be your reaction to seeing your "enemy" wearing the ring you were supposed to have? Do you think this happens in real life - absolutely. Let's just hope that if it should happen to you, it won't be plastered on the front page of a comic, people magazine or your home-town local newspaper.
Be like Betty and handle it with style, class and grace.

Jac Zagoory designs seals the deal in ink.
Posted by Yours In BridalWith 3,000 vendors representing all 50 states and over 75 countries, the NY International Gift Fair is the place to be to showcase new products. With so much to see, there was one in particular that caught my eye. It was a creative spin on the “Wedding pen” by Jac Zagoory. Jac Zagoory designs, are as unique and functional as they are beautiful. His philosophy “you truly give something to someone as a gift that they will use and, perpetuate the good feelings that they experienced. Engrave your guests memories, not the gift”.
This pen he showed me (the "wedding pen") has an image of an Egyptian couple holding hands, symbolizing love and commitment. No one would mind carrying this around since it is a cool piece,of ancient art. The box that it comes in, could have your photo and can either be printed with a message or, simply placed in the box without one. Who isn't going to be happy with this gift and at the same time, ever going to forget where they got it? This will be a constant reminder of the good time they had at your wedding. I'm sure many will ask how they came into position of this unique pen they are sporting. With pride they can reply, "this pen was a special favor I received when attending my good friends wedding/engagement party."
These true works of art. Jac is more than willing to work with you to pick a pen that you will be happy with giving as a gift. I'm sure he has a pen for every personality in your wedding party.
Until next time...

Sue Wong haute couture that is affordable
Posted by Yours In BridalDesign by Sue Wong
It’s almost that time of year again. No, not labor day, back to school or even Christmas. It’s bridal show season. This is where some of the hottest designers start to show their dresses for next season. While it will officially go into full swing next month, I wanted to introduce you to a designer that you absolutely must get to know, Ms. Sue Wong. Her whimsical design and flowing fabrics are a sight to behold.
You may not know her name, but you do know her designs. Her dresses have been seen on celebrities like Jessica Biel and Anne Hathaway. When you walk into the midtown showroom of this 24-year-old company, you immediately are engulfed with what I want to call ‘Zen meets Color-Couture’. The electricity that flows from the row of dress shapes, textures and colors will have your eyes dancing and your pocket book singing. Yes, you can have the same dress you’ve seen on your favorite celebrity for under $500. In fact Ms. Wong’s dresses found in stores like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Macys and other fine retailers range from $300 for a cocktail dress (something cute to wear to your engagement party) to $1,000 (for a possible wedding gown).
I was extremely lucky to have her meet with me for a few minutes recently and I asked her to describe her collection to me.
Beauty – Magic – Transformation
As the models changed from dress to dress I saw several alternatives to a traditional bridal gown. I envisioned a bride who was looking for something that flowed and was fitting of a beach, backyard or destination wedding. I saw the bride that is confident and sexy and wanted her dress to reflect this. I saw the bride who was looking for 1920’s glamour as well as the 2009 bride, who wants something that will leave her guests speechless. There are dresses here that are perfect for your entire bridal party. They are fun, flirty and your girls will love to wear them again. There are also some classic dresses for both mothers. In so many colors you can find something that will be a perfect match for your wedding colors.
With the belief that the woman should wear the dress and not the other way around, her dresses are as timeless as they are romantic. “What good is fashion unless it stirs up genuine emotion? Love and beauty have a magical, transformative power” and Sue Wong understands this better than anyone else. I would dare to call her the Grand Dame of Affordable Couture.

Destination wedding: The Dominican Repubic the island of waterfalls
Posted by Yours In BridalBeaches in the Dominican Republic
Located in the eastern Caribbean, the Dominican Republic (DR) is an easy-to-get to destination from New York City. Caribbean sunsets, pristine seaside and palm-lined beaches greet you as you enter this beautiful country. If you are looking for lush tropical gardens as a backdrop or the uniqueness of a quaint village, the DR can accommodate extravagant and intimate; exciting or relaxed weddings for every style and budget.
I spoke with Shasha Cruz, director of public relations for the DR Ministry of Tourism’s New York Office recently and this is a portion of our conversation about this beautiful Caribbean island.
Can you tell me about this beautiful country and opportunities for weddings here?
The DR not only offers the perfect landscape for those looking to get engaged, but also offers brides-to-be a vast variety of hotels with comprehensive wedding packages including wedding coordinators, bridal treatments, photographer, music, flowers, honeymoon suite, personalized wedding cake, catering, amenities for guests and much more to ensure that the wedding day is as hassle-free, cost-effective and relaxed as possible.
What are the heavy times of year you're seeing brides?
The DR is a perennial weddings/romance destination due to its year-round summer-like weather, multitude of resorts and hotels that cater to weddings. It is also easy to get to the DR with many nonstop flights to major cities. High tourist seasons from the U.S. include the winter months. However, a destination wedding to the DR can be scheduled at anytime.
Dominican Republic
What are the best/signature experiences can a wedding party expect - or most importantly, if a couple is looking for a venue, why would they choose your space vs. another venue?
The DR offers unique and beautiful backdrops for weddings.
* Most of the resorts that cater to weddings have several scenic spots were couples can tie the knot and celebrate with friends. Marrying under a gazebo on the beach with the Caribbean azure blue sea and stunning coastline as scenery; marrying in private gardens with fountains that many resorts offer, to marrying with the magnificent Dominican Alps as a back drop are easily arranged at hundreds of hotels that have wedding specialists to help the bride and groom.
* A unique and charming spot for weddings can be found at Altos de Chavon, a replica of a 15th century artist’s village near La Romana on the southeast coast. Here cobblestone paths, coral stone fountains and terra cotta buildings create a magical effect for a wedding.
* The DR boasts many world-class hotels and brands thoughout the island. On the East Coast, resort complexes like Punta Cana, Cap Cana, Roco Ki, and Casa de Campo in La Romana are popular for destination weddings. While the DR’s North and North East Coast offers breathtaking coastlines, mountains and unspoiled beaches with a range of hotels, resorts, boutiques and eco- and family friendly options for destination weddings.
Beach of Dominican Republic
Tell me about the catering, bridal suite, adventures and anything else you want to share with a bride.

If you want to get married in DR, these are a few things you need to keep in mind.
1 – Register with the Oficialia del Estado Civil (City Clerk). It’s an approximate $450 fee and there is NO Waiting period. The hotel or resort wedding coordinator can assist with all the paper work needed.
1a - You will need to have your passport, and ORIGINAL copy of your birth certificates, Single Status Affidavits, and if divorced, your divorce certificate that has been translated by an ‘official translator’ into Spanish.

3 – You will need two witnesses over 18 at your ceremony.
4 – After your ceremony you will be given a document that confirms that the weddinbg took place but a marriage certificate my be requested from the local justice of the peace. This piece of paper makes it legal and recognized worldwide. DON’T FORGET THIS STEP!!

With so much to do on the island (including all-inclusive resorts!!) you and your guests will have a great time. So make it a long weekend and enjoy all that DR has to offer.

Get carried away to St. Lucia for your destination wedding
Posted by Yours In BridalRepeatedly ranked one of the top honeymoon destinations in the world by Modern Bride and awarded distinctions for its world-class resorts by Brides, Saint Lucia is quickly becoming one of the leading romantic destinations in the world. The island’s diverse natural attractions such as its pristine beaches, secluded waterfalls and dramatic Piton Mountains are just some of the reasons why couples are attracted to this lush Caribbean oasis.
There are so many hotels on the island offer wedding gazebos with breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. The choice of churches as well as one-of-a-kind venues such as cascading waterfalls, nature heritage sites, a tree-house set amid the lush green leaves of a tropical almond tree, beaches or colorful botanical gardens. Some of favorite resorts for weddings of all price points include: Discovery at Marigot Bay , Ti Kaye Village Resort, Ladera Resort, Anse Chastanet, and Windjammer Landing.
What are the requirements necessary to get married here?
Amendments to the wedding regulations make it easier than ever for visitors to marry on Saint Lucia. Two types of marriage licenses have been created, an Ordinary license and a Special license.
Ordinary License-
The ordinary License is when the application -- an affidavit and a petition -- have been submitted at least seven days prior to the date of marriage.
Special License-
The new amendment gives the attorney general the power to issue a special marriage license for an application submitted less than seven days before the date of marriage. Visitors can even apply for a special license on the same day of the marriage, providing all required documentation is available.
Couples planning to marry on Saint Lucia should bring the following required documentation, which includes certified true copies or originals:
* Passport
* Birth Certificate
* Decree Absolute (if one of the parties is divorced)
* In the case of a widow/widower a Death Certificate of first spouse is required
* If a name has been changed, a Deed Poll is required
* If one of the parties is under the age of 18, evidence of a consent of parents is required in the form of a sworn affidavit stamped by a Notary Public
Application to be married in Saint Lucia must be made by a local solicitor to the Attorney General or notary who prepares and signs the license. Weddings are not generally conducted during weekends or holidays, so if you are interested in a weekend or holiday wedding, you will need to check with the wedding coordinator to be sure that it can be arranged.
Fees:
* Notary Fee & Marriage Ordinary License $125
* Notary Fee & Marriage Special License $202
* Registrar Fees $37
* Marriage Certificate $3
What are the best/signature experiences can a wedding party expect - or most importantly, if a couple is looking for a venue, why would they choose this island vs. another?
As mentioned above, Saint Lucia is one of the most unique islands in the Caribbean. It is known as the “Simply Beautiful” Emerald Isle for its majestic mountains, lush rainforest and secluded waterfalls. Blending authentic Caribbean style and hospitality with world-class resorts and spas, top-rated restaurants, golf, yachting and more, Saint Lucia is the ideal location for a Caribbean wedding.
Tell me about the catering, bridal suite, adventures and anything else you want to share with a bride.
St. Lucia has an abundance of accommodation choices to suit individual tastes and budgets from all-inclusive resorts and luxury villas to intimate inns and guesthouses. Opt for a resort in the north, which offers the excitement of the capital city of Castries with shopping, restaurants, clubs and bars. Properties in the south of the island, near the picturesque town of Soufrière, are more secluded and offer quiet beaches, views of the majestic Piton Mountains and proximity to botanical gardens, natural waterfalls and the world’s only drive-in volcano. Each resort will cater to the couple’s individual needs and ensure that their day is truly a one-of-a-kind celebration.
St. Lucia is a place where true romance begins.

There is a magnificent array of symbols and initials (pick a letter!!) and have a burn time from 60+ to 90+ hours and because of the soy based wax burn all the way down to the bottom and wiped clean for use later for so many different things!!
Whether the candles have been gifted to brides maids, on the tables at the rehearsal dinner, used for the Unity Candle, for the Sign in Book area, on the gift table, the bride and grooms table and/or the guests tables, it is a show stopper.
Swarovski opened their first Crystallized Swarovski Elements shop on Broadway last month and it was amazing!! Chloe Sevigny, Blake Lively, Evan Rachel Wood and Lucy Liu were there and looking amazing in their bling!
For you my brides, you will be able to come in and customize jewelry in your color schemes while sipping on champagne. Bring your bridesmaids and let them have some fun as well. Buy different crystal components to adorn your veil, shoes, handbag, or for those who want to purchase pieces as is, you can do that as well. The lounge space will also be able for private events such as showers. Come in for a relaxed event while drinking wine, munching on different canapés, and have your own instructor show you how to create the perfect bracelet.
As for the cost of the crystal components, they range as well, starting at roughly $10. The price points for finished pieces range from $40 - $160 for most of the pieces.
Hope these give you some more ideas to make your wedding extra special.
Until next time…

Destination - SuperClubs Resorts a great all-inclusive wedding option
Posted by Yours In BridalSuperClubs Resorts
Is all of the wedding planning getting to you? How about a complete all-inclusive where all you have to worry about is … well nothing. They say that “Life is a Breeze” when you pick any of the SuperClub Resorts so I wanted to find out a bit more about them – just for you! The added value, you can have your pre-wedding party as well as your wedding and honeymoon all in one place. This is a wonderful idea if you are looking for cost-effective options for your family and friends. It’s also wonderful because the properties have more than enough to keep everyone entertained.
SuperClubs Resorts in Jamaica, the Bahamas, Curaçao, and Brazil are an escapist haven for destination weddings and castaway honeymoons. With a number of Super-Inclusive resorts to choose from, brides and grooms can tie the knot in style, while newlyweds enjoy romantic seclusion and pampering. Carefree weddings are coordinated under the tutelage of experienced on-site wedding coordinators at 8 properties: Grand Lido Negril, Grand Lido Braco, Breezes Runaway Bay, Breezes Bahamas, Breezes Curaçao, Breezes Costa Do Sauipe, Hedonism II, and Hedonism III. The wedding packages include: a marriage license; a minister and pertinent fees; witnesses; complimentary guest passes; tropical flower bouquet and boutonniere; live music; champagne; wedding cake; a candlelit dinner for the bride and groom; and a honeymoon breakfast in bed with mimosas. SuperClubs raises the bar once again by absorbing the costs of government administrative fees, a savings of up to $300 per couple, for those staying seven nights or longer.
What are the heavy times of year you're seeing brides?
Like all weddings, there is an increase in weddings during the summer and fall months, May - October.
What are the best/signature experiences can a wedding party expect - or most importantly, if a couple is looking for a venue, why would they choose your space vs. another venue?
As you know, destination weddings are an ever-growing market, with a 400% increase in the last 10 years. This statistic, plus the fact that honeymoons are an $8 billion industry, with the Caribbean top-ranked and Jamaica the number one destination in the Caribbean. Weddings are recession-proof. Despite the economy, people are still getting married. They are, however, looking for ways to save money -- and who can blame them? According to one wedding statistic, an average wedding costs $28,000, excluding the honeymoon. So what’s a couple to do? Easy: take advantage of the new selection of chic destination wedding packages that are a fraction of the cost of today's average affair. With every detail covered, the bride and groom can relax and enjoy their special day - without the worry of lingering debt.
SuperClubs is the world's only Super-Inclusive resort group, devoted to offering a worry- and hassle-free vacation with no hidden costs. SuperClubs includes properties in three brand categories: the luxurious AAA Four Diamond Grand Lido Resorts & Spas; free-spirited Hedonism Resorts; or sports and activity-oriented Breezes Resorts. At SuperClubs, meals are veritable feasts, cocktails are top-shelf, and entertainment is the hottest on the island – the absolute best of everything. Super-Inclusive vacations include: accommodations; all meals, SuperSnacks and premium brand cocktails; unlimited use of all sports facilities, including equipment rental and instruction; entertainment; weddings; recreational activities; hotel taxes and even tips.
As mentioned above, the wedding packages include: a marriage license; a minister and pertinent fees; witnesses; complimentary guest passes; tropical flower bouquet and boutonniere; live music; champagne; wedding cake; a candlelit dinner for the bride and groom; and a honeymoon breakfast in bed with mimosas. SuperClubs raises the bar once again by absorbing the costs of government administrative fees, a savings of up to $300 per couple, for those staying seven nights or longer.
Here is something that I’ve not seen with any other venue yet…
SuperClubs also has a wedding and honeymoon registry:
For couples whose kitchens are stocked with the latest gadgets, and already have fully furnished apartments, compiling a meaningful wedding registry can be an onerous task. Opt for a toaster-free solution with SuperClubs Resorts’ new wedding and honeymoon registry with Honeymoon Wishes! This registry is perfect for couples that have always dreamed of a romantic tropical destination wedding or honeymoon, and offers a means for family and friends to contribute towards a wedding gift that really counts.
I’ve been to two of the properties in the past and had a great time. The weather - perfect, the food and drink – amazing and my total rest/relaxation – worth every penny.

Neckers Island - Your own private island for your wedding and honeymoon
Posted by Yours In BridalBack in the 1980’s there was a show called “Fantasy Island.” People would fly to a remote Private Island and “Mr. Roark”; the manager would make their fantasy come true. Fast forward to 2009, I’ve had the opportunity to share with you Necker Island. An island that is not only breath taking, but where your fantasies for your wedding will absolutely come true.
Necker Island (better known as the island belonging to Sir Richard Branson's - from Virgin Airlines fame) is a private island paradise; surrounded by turquoise waters, coral reefs and beautiful white sandy beaches all day. Beautiful doesn’t begin to describe this private island and if you ever wanted the complete star treatment, look no further. This island is yours and the quality and care that each member of the staff gives you, is completely unparalleled. Of course this star treatment does not come cheaply, but if you want to completely splurge, this is the way to do it.
Here is what I’ve been able to find about this amazing destination.
Weddings on the island are popular at all times throughout the year. Every wedding is by definition unique, personal and each request is tailored especially for the Bride and Groom. This is their chance to let their inspiration run riot, as the staff delight in pulling off the seemingly impossible! Here there is no such thing as a ‘set wedding package’.
I will say that this is not inexpensive if you are looking for a destination wedding. However accommodation, all meals and drinks, high quality wines and champagne, as well as a team of 60 fabulous staff are included.
The island is generally hired out for exclusive use only but they have increased the amount of Celebration Weeks to 6 in total this year where couples/friends/families can hire rooms ‘hotel style’. Celebrations Weeks still available during 2009 are:
26th September for 7 nights
3rd October for 7 nights
10th October for 7 nights
17th October for 3, 4 or 7 nights (family weeks - children welcome)
Arrivals in 2009 for exclusive use from $51,000 per night for up to 28 guests ($1,822 per person per night)
Wedding Supplement: From US$85-US$120 depending on the time spent in the British Virgin Islands prior to the wedding. The cost includes the license plus the cost of essential stamp duty, plus the cost of the ceremony either on Necker Island or in the Registrar’s office.
If you don’t wish to get married on Necker but want to be there for your honeymoon on the Island, this is possible too and you don’t have to hire the entire island.
Listen, I have traveled the world 5 times, lived in other countries and cities, and I have never seen any place more beautiful. Just take a look at their site and view the video – it’s beyond any dream you could possibly dream. So why not make your dream come true. Have your wedding on Necker Island and don’t forget to invite me.

Destination wedding: "I Now Prounounce You Star Struck"
Posted by Yours In BridalI just wanted to share what I saw on TMZ today. See, you never know who will stop by and say "HI" when you have a destination wedding. I'm sure that's a great photo for their wedding album
This newlywed couple will never forget their wedding ... because it was the day they met Denzel Washington. Do you think he asked to be 'best-man?'
While vacationing in Italy, the 54-year-old two-time Oscar winner noticed the bride and groom and congratulated them on their big day.
This just proves that you never know who may 'stop by' to wish you well.

Eco-Friendly destination wedding location: The Landings Resort in St. Lucia
Posted by Yours In BridalThe beaches off The Landings
Whether you are interested in a casual sunset ceremony on the beach overlooking Rodney Bay followed by a seaside cocktail party, or a traditional chapel ceremony followed by a formal dinner in the Grand Pavilion, The Landings is a luxury St. Lucia resort that features ideal settings for all weddings in St. Lucia.
What I love about this property is they are environmentally aware. Couples can celebrate their special day with "Environmentally Engaged" St Lucia weddings. A RockResorts event planner will work with you to incorporate more personal sustainability practices into your special occasion that go far beyond simply recycling the cans from the "Just Married" sign.
Custom touches that are as unique as you are with a touch of green in every aspect of the wedding. Features include organic, natural and regional cuisine and beverages, sustainable décor and carbon friendly transportation options.
The director of sales & marketing at The Landings is John MacMullen, was kind enough to speak with me about this amazing environmentally-friendly island and resort.
Can you tell me about your space, locations and opportunities for weddings?
The resort has a few different venues: The Landings Beach for traditional sunset-style weddings, The Compass Terrace which is a paverstone venue overlooking our inner yacht harbor and we can also accommodate smaller ceremonies on the privates villa suite terraces.
What are the heavy times of year you're seeing brides?
The resort sees many of the wedding inquires out of the US Northeast during the winter/spring months while many of the couples residing in the southeast US prefer late spring and into the summer. The resort has weddings year-round.
What are the best/signature experiences can a wedding party expect - or most importantly, if a couple is looking for a venue, why would they choose your space/island vs. another?
The Landings has, by far, the best beach on St. Lucia. As the resort faces the west, it also has an excellent sunset backdrop over Rodney Bay. One of the main reasons why The Landings is so popular is that the resort is committed to performing only one wedding ceremony per day. This allows a couple to fully customize their experience. They receive the full attention from our entire staff and never have to worry about scheduling conflicts with other wedding ceremonies.
Tell me about the catering, bridal suite, adventures and anything else you want to share with a bride/couple.
Here are the Romance packages that we are the most popular:
‘Elope’ - For that perfect private wedding
* 6 night package to include breakfast or lunch daily
* Complimentary wedding ceremony for two
* Complimentary Chef’s dinner on your terrace
* Champagne turndown
Escape - For that special honeymoon or even a second honeymoon
* 6 night package to include breakfast or lunch
* Includes one excursion – snorkel, SCUBA, zip line, golf or spa
* Complimentary dinner for two in The Beach Club
* Beach amenity turndown
Can you tell me about marriage requirements, costs or restrictions?
It's easy to get married in St Lucia. Couples need to bring the following documentation:
Passport, Birth Certificate and Decree Absolute (if one of the parties is divorced).
In the case of a widow/widower a Death Certificate of first spouse is required; If a name has been changed, a Deed Poll is required.
If one of the parties is under the age of 18, evidence of a consent of parents is required in the form of a sworn affidavit stamped by a Notary Public.
If any required documents are not in English, an authenticated translation must be available
St Lucia has a No Residency Policy and clients arriving on the island for a day can be married within hours. The license fees are as follows:
* $335 EC if clients are staying on island for 3 days or more
* $540 EC for a SPECIAL LICENCE if the clients will be on island for less than 24 hours.
Application to be married in St. Lucia must be made by a local solicitor to the Attorney General or notary who prepares and signs the license. (The Landings will handle).

Wedding celebrated with a hint of indulgence - Ruby et Violette treats
Posted by Yours In BridalI’ll tell you a secret. I don’t like chocolate. I know there was a gasp heard round the world – a woman that doesn’t like chocolate. Well while walking through Hell’s Kitchen yesterday, I came across a shop that literally ‘called to me’. Ruby et Violette is not just a shop, it’s not just a cookie shop…it is the Queen of all cookie shops. While trying to decide which one to try (I really wanted 3 but it is bikini season after all), I asked Heather Sue Mercer, the owner and operator of Ruby et Violette some questions about the shop, and if she sees many brides. Sitting down with some cookies and milk, here is a bit of our conversation.
How far in advance should brides/grooms place their order?
Because we offer our entire year's list of flavors to brides, it is best if they get their order in at least a month in advance so that we have time to order the required specialty ingredients from abroad should the recipe require it. But brides should note that we have accommodated last minute wedding orders with only a few days notice. Ruby et Violette has more than 120 different flavors of chocolate chunk cookies to choose from and our dedicated concierge can walk them through the flavors, packaging options and timelines to help them decide.
What is your turn around time?
As with every order we ship, wedding orders are baked, sealed, boxed and bowed the day they are baked to ensure freshness.
What is the minimum order?
The minimum order is just 25 Bijoux Boxes.
How does your concierge work with brides/grooms to help them coordinate the boxes and ribbon to their wedding?
Generally the bride is immediately drawn to one of our colors, as they are each quite distinct. But when they are having trouble deciding on a color, our concierge reviews the color options and suggests options based on what previous brides have chosen depending on their color palette. The great thing about our boxes is that the tops and bottoms, each distinct, are interchangeable. The only parameters for the bride is that they must use all the tops and bottoms, so if a bride is ordering 400 boxes for example, they can choose to do 100 gold, 100 silver and create 100 gold on silver and 100 silver on gold. That is a popular option.
What else would you like to share with brides/couples that they may not know?
Each Bijou contains 4 cookies, with the option of 2 flavors in each box. But brides can choose an additional 2 flavors for every 25 boxes they order.
So if you order 150 boxes, you can choose 12 flavors, so that all of your guests don't go home with the same flavors - some people at the table might get Champagne Strawberry and Maple Walnut, while others get First Kiss and Kir Royal, and still others receive Candy Jar and Creme de Menthe. People have a great time once they realize there are other flavors to try - and the favors NEVER make it until the end of the night...
Another good thing for brides to know is that our other boxes are popular for use as welcome gifts for out of town guests rather than the typical, boring, welcome basket! The Bijoux have also been used as "after favors" so to speak - put in the cars by the valets at the end of the night when each guest’s car is brought around so that they can enjoy a sweet treat on the ride home.
So click your ruby Manolo’s three times and check out this shop. If you have more than 2 don’t blame me. They really are that good!
Ruby et Violette is located at 457 West 50th Street, NYC and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am to 10 pm or visit their website: http://www.rubyetviolette.com/

Destination wedding: Somerset on Grace Bay on the islands of Turks and Caicos
Posted by Yours In BridalPlay games on the lawn of Somerset on Grace Bay
With increasingly popularity of destination weddings and perhaps for people looking to finding a more intimate island, The Somerset on Grace Bay, a five-star property in the Providenciales of Turks and Caicos Islands is the ideal location. The 3hr flight to the hotel can provide a formal reception in the ‘all-white O’Soleil restaurant; if you are feeling ‘international’ or want to have a go at a local sport, you can have an ‘all-white croquet attire’ for a match on the lawn or better yet and my personal favorite an ‘all-white fireworks display shooting into the clear sky the evening of your wedding (so you don’t have to wait until our 4th of July to have your marriage start off with fireworks!). No matter the size, style or desire of your wedding, The Somerset offers all ‘white-glove service’ that is second to none and considered one of the leading choices for destination weddings.
There are seven ceremony and reception locations on the property and at select locations can accommodate up to 200 of your closest friends/family. There are several things I like about this property but some of my favorites include the restaurants – the food is amazing, the pools (two of them are freshwater) and there are tennis courts and an 18-hole championship golf course (I didn’t butcher it up too much with my swing). Some of the other things that were great about the suites, the ability to have groceries in my refrigerator and aBBQ was just outside, as well as a washer/dryer so I could wash my clothes before I left and come home with clean things. That was a very cool bonus. This was truly like having your own mini-apartment with all the benefits of a hotel.
The Somerset wedding packages start $2,800 to $3,100 and includes having a personal wedding coordinator, the Officiant, processing of all your documentation and License, the ceremony, a soloist and in-suite massages. There are additional prices for various menu options depending on what you wish. They have amazing appetizers, selections and the presentations are some of the most creative I’ve seen. Let me be clear there is an additional prices for fireworks, tenting and photography so please check out all of these before you make your final decision. No mater what the final cost, I believe it will be much less expensive than for the same quality here in NY.
This is what you need to have if you plan on getting married on the island. All ORIGINAL documents must be presented to the Turks and Caicos Registrar of Marriages by the person completing the forms. Original documents to be presented in person are:
1. Passport
2. Original Birth Certificate
3. Proof of marital status - If single a sworn affidavit is required
4. If one of the parties is a divorcee, then a Divorce Decree is required, either the original or a notarized copy, sealed by a Court Clerk
5. In the case of a Widow/Widower a Death Certificate of the previous spouse is required
6. In the case of change of name by Deed Poll or Adoption, then proof is required
7. If under the age of 21, then consent of one or both parents or guardian, in the form of an affidavit stamped by a Notary Public
8. A declaration for each party must be filled in, wherein you state your occupation and other necessary information
9. The marriage parties must not be within the prohibited degree of relationships to each other
10. Status, age as of last birthday, present address of residence and fathers full name
11. For church weddings Ministers may require proof of membership
12. Please be advised that any Passports or documentation written other than in English should be translated in advance and notarized by the applicable consulate
13. Because the processing of the marriage license takes from 2-3 days, we recommend that you need to be in the Turks and Caicos Islands at least seventy-two (72) hours before your wedding ceremony. (I would recommend you verify this time frame with your wedding coordinator BEFORE you leave).
14. $50.00 in U.S. currency is required
If you crave 5-star treatment, and unparallel treatment consider The Somerset on Grace Bay. What’s more, I’ve been told that there are rates that begin at $350 per night from now until Oct 30, 2009 if you are interested in a quick get away.
