The Aisle New York: A new way to shop for bridal attire

I’m sure you’ve already heard about it by now, but if you’re new to the wedding planning process, allow me to introduce you to The Aisle New York, an e-commerce site for luxury bridal services. This membership only website showcases the most exclusive brands in bridal and wedding in limited engagement, timed-sale boutiques, all at exclusive, insider prices.
The Aisle New York has hand picked a selection of bridal fashion and accessories from the world’s top designers including: Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, Jenny Packham, Reem Acra, Lela Rose and more of our bridal favorites.  Their merchandise ranges from one-of-a kind runway pieces, coveted designer archives, new custom-made orders, and exclusive designer capsule initiatives.  They are simply stunning!  I (along with others) feel "It is About Time!"  Of course on the panel are Co-Presidents David Yassky (former Fashion Editor and Stylist at Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) and W Magazine, Shara Levy Esq., Deborah Moses of Moses Media and Mark Ingram of Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier to partner as Co-Founders are the industry professionals behind this new venture.  Talk about a line-up.
With the desire for brides to be fashionable (see I told you “Brides Love Fashion”) and economical, this is an idea whose time has come. And to spread the love even further, The Aisle New York donates a portion of proceeds from every gown sold to the charity of the designers’ choice. What I really love about this is when you finish your purchases; you will see the exact amount that will go to the designers’ charity on your statement.  How many other companies put the actual donation amount in writing so you actually see it?  None I know of, so kudos to them!!

Get a beautiful dress, and accessories from the comfort of your home, no matter where you are.  To Pre-Register for membership visit http://www.TheAisleNewYork.com

Wedding of Coco Rocha and James Conran - Aug 2010

I love a good wedding. While I will say, the fact that this bride is tall, beautiful, thin don't take away from her inner beauty.  Coco Rocha is one of the sweetest models to participate during NYC Fashion Week.  I guess what makes her super beautiful is the fact that she does charity work without standing on a table to say "See what I've done".

She married James Conran in France in August and this movie (18 min long) is so well done, I just had to post it.  Now...I'm not suggesting you run out and have someone video tape your wedding, nor am I saying run to France (unless you want to).  The dress by Zac Posen is - WOW!!  I wanted to share this because it's real.  The emotion is real; the flowers are real.   The unexpected rain is real....but how they handle it is a model to follow (no pun intended).

In particular look at the lighting, the candles the flowers and the intimacy of their wedding.  I absolutely loved it.  Oh...the vows, hankie worthy.  Tell me what you think, I'm interested.

Hi Everyone!!  I feel so badly that I've been craaaazed with Fashion Week.  Have you been following my tweets:  @bridalease.  It's been a great experience but with writing for a magazine in London (yes, I've officially gone international) tweeting the shows, writing...I'm pooped.

NY Fashion Week: Christian Siriano is BACK and just as fierce

I think when you’ve won “Project Runway” and lauded as one of the best designers of your time, the pressure might be just a bit high. Not for Christian Siriano whose 2011 collection is inspired by Africa, Indian and Chinese influences mixed with a dash of elegant opulence for good measure.

From wide-legged trousers, safari shorts and jacket (which looked fresh and not dated!), to structured cocktail dresses and the lightest floating evening gowns (even though they look like they weigh a ton – they don’t) that had the entire room cheering. There was brilliance in using Asian fabric prints based on digital photographs of Chinese and Buddhist temples and combining multi-layered Indian beading accents. Once simply couldn’t take your eyes away from the patterns because they were truly captivating.

Of course, we can’t forget the shoes. Sky-high on models who were already tall, just made his cloths more statuesque. The four styles were from:
Shanghai (with it’s strong Chinese influences)
Mumbai (which is powerful with a feminine Goddess vibe)
Nairobi (which reflects the neckpieces worn by women of the Padaung tribe of Southeast Asia) and
Zanzi (a bootie) from Africa and included a unique heel designed to look like an African hand-carved piece emulating a tool.

This is the Christian Siriano from Project Runway. Last season, he was FIERCE, but safe. This season, it’s all him, all the time and the crowd loved it! I keep asking Christian (ok, so this is only the second time), when he’s going to come out with a bridal line. I never get a straight answer but I think his finale pieces could easily become bridal pieces. Hey Christian, at least create some shoes in white ok?

Fabric trends: Leather, Cotton Bateau, Metallic Tweed, Brocade, Silk Chiffon, Silk Crepe, Silk Charmeuse, Satin, Silk Organza, Taffeta, Silk Croc Embossed, Snake Embossed and Tulle

Color trends: Metallic, Cognac White, White, Champagne, Ivory, Chocolate/Tan, Turquoise Giraffe, Amber Giraffe, Gold Stone, Black, Red, Dark Temple Print/Light Temple Print, Bone and Paprika

Style trends: Leather belted safari jacket, kimono shirt dress, long and flowing back on dress/shirt, wing sleeve blouse, scalloped bust, bubble gown, one-shoulder with beaded trim, Trench coat with pencil skirt (LOVED IT!!) and beaded empire waist.

Guys very own Fashion's Night Out

Guys. Fashion Night Out has some great opportunities for you to get your shopping on as well.

Let’s start with things that are really important…liquid libations:
While I can appreciate beer, you can have it anytime. Why not try something that you may want to have served with your groomsmen or perhaps your new Father In Law:

Ralph Lauren downtown will have lots of shopping opportunities along with Champagne, and Jessica Alba will be helping guests pick out fabulous clothes.
Ralph Lauren – 379 West Broadway

Ben Sherman is known for (96 Spring St.; 212-680-0160) where Glenmorangie Scotch and Newcastle Kegs will quench your thirst
Ben Sherman - 96 Spring St

Don't let the otent pink Belvedere IX drink fool you and show your sensitive side. Molton Brown has some of the bath products that you will love. Try the Black Pepper bathwash.
Molton Brown -128 Spring St.

Andaz 5th Avenue and Downtown at Inven.tory owners Whitney Singer, Mike Townsend and Kat Berkery will serve whiskey from 400-year-old distillery Bushmills.
Andaz - 5th Avenue 485 Fifth Ave
Inven.tory - 232 Lafayette St

Billy Reid's store will host a night of Southern Hospitality with refreshments and spirits, and an exclusive band playing live in the store.
Billy Reid - 54 Bond Street

I’m really lovin’ the suits and great casual wear at Against Nature Atelier who are actually celebrating their one-year anniversary tonight. Guys, you really have to check them out and with Hendrick’s Gin as a sponsor, you’ll at the very least have a great cocktail.
Against Nature Atelier - 159 Chrystie St

Bloomingdale’s SoHo during Fashion’s Night Out. You’ll peruse chalk-striped suits, brogue shoes, club-collared dress shirts and everything else you’ll need for that daring moonlight liquor run you’ve been planning.
Bloomingdales Men’s Department - 504 Broadway

Guys, no matter where you and check out your favorite stores in NYC and Brooklyn. It’s a great night to have fun and give back to the economy.
Happy Fashion’s Night to all.

FNO: Last minute ideas for specific types of brides.

While there are tons of lists for Fashion’s Night Out, I think this is really targeted for the fashion forward bride.
I love American Express.  They are the only card that I trust and especially during Fashion Week.  However did you know, if you give…you will also get? What do I mean?  Who doesn’t love getting $100 back after spending $500 at their favorite shop? That’s exactly what you can do at hot spots
Tory Burch, Theory, DVF, Domenico Vacca, Helmut Lang, or
Intermix anytime now, through Fashion’s Night Out.  Enroll your American Express card at www.americanexpress.com/NYFashionWeekFNO starting today!  Any American Express card qualifies, but additional terms and conditions apply, so click here to learn more! A list of participating store locations can be found at americanexpress.com/entertainment.

Chabad of West 60’s, is offering High Holiday services to anyone in the Lincoln Center area.  Rumor has it; rabbi taking up the feel of fashion and the move to Lincoln center (re-birth/renew) and incorporating it in his sermon.  Like I said, it may not be a perfect solution, but there is one.  Who knows, maybe you’ll see DVF, Zac Posen and others attending services.
Chabad of the West 60’s – 145 West 67th Street

FNO: Ways to be careful and still enjoy your Fashion's Night Out

Are you preparing for fashion’s night in NYC or anywhere in the world?  Here are some simple rules to help you maneuver and have fun.

While you want to be “haute”, as you move from shop to shop, be comfortable. If you must be ‘diva(o)’, do it from your ankles up & sensible-stylish shoes on  your feet. There is nothing less attractive than a person with achy feet.  Come on, you know exactly what I mean.

You will NOT be able to travel to every event there is.  Get over it; it’s not possible instead use the FNO map and map out your plan for your favorite shops (or events). I know I must be the only person on the planet who doesn’t have an iPhone, but it doesn’t stop me from finding you a GREAT FNO app.  Keep all your events in order and get the latest updates, super-sales and promos at your fingertips with this Lustra app.

Make your plan with friends to truly share in the energy and excitement that will engulf you during the five-hours of Friday night fun.  Last year, Madison Ave was on fire with shops music and traffic.  It was pretty hard to move from place to place (think crowded train station), but your fearless leader (uh, that’s me) managed.  This leads me to…

Be careful.  Traffic, free cocktails, lots of people – LOTS of people and the festive atmosphere can lead to ‘things happening’.  Watch your purse/wallet, and your physical person.  Be careful on the streets.  Just because there is a party on both sides of the street, doesn’t mean that the streets are closed.  Traffic will still flow.  Follow traffic lights and the rights of the road.

Finally do shop and have fun.  A lot of stores will have FNO t-shirts (40% goes to charity), others will have specialty items and super sales.  This isn’t just a night to see the celebs that will show up (which is totally cool), it’s also a night to give back to your city.  It’s a time to make a difference and yes if you’re really lucky, find a bargain or two.

Remember, no matter how much fun this is, it is just one night.  I’m sure you want to be around for a few million more.

See you there.

FNO: Bridal designers hosting events and hope you shop for the cause

Fashion Night out is just a few days away with tons of places to go, things to do and see. If you are wondering what bridal designers are up to, look no farther. To make things easier for you, you can truly “Plan Your Evening” print it out and take it with you.

GIVEAWAY: Amex, Tory Burch and a bride for the opportunity of a lifetime

I love fall. It is truly my favorite time of the year. Of course with this minor heatwave we've been having, fall seems so far away. Well, the one thing I know for sure (sounds like Oprah right??) is that Fashion Week, is just days away. You can truly feel the energy shift here in NYC and in a week from today exactly, it will be Fashion's Night Out. Perhaps they will have one in your town and if it's anything like NYC, it will be crazy.

A few things to share:
1 - I will be sharing with you some of the latest trends from some of your favorite bridal and ready-to-wear designers. For me, one of the best parts of Fashion Week is a sneak-peek at what bridal designers are looking at for trends which we will see during bridal market.

2 - I've finally finished my new site for the company "Yours In Bridal". Please check it out and let me know what you think.  Honestly, it's still a work in progress, but I can tell you - the new features, new content and some exciting giveaways are in the works...which brings me to....

3 - Do you know American Express??  I've been really lucky to partner with American Express and Tory Burch to offer one lucky bride and three of her girls the ultimate back-stage-pass experience. Click on Yours In Bridal for more details.  You know you love fashion and who doesn't want the VIP Treatment.

I will select a random name from the list of people who have completed the five steps above, and will announce the name via the Yours In Bridal blog and Facebook Page on Saturday, September 11th at 11:59 PM EST. Good luck!

So thanks for being here with me and get ready for a new and exciting BridalEase.
Don't forget to enter the Amex contest - it's going to be great!!

UPDATE: 12:22pm - Michel C. Fina has generously donated a champagne set to the lucky winner.

Wine Wednesday: X-rated fusion liqueur

You’ve been looking forward to a much-needed girls’ night for weeks, and after a fresh manicure, new heels and a lipstick to match, the day has finally arrived! No matter what the occasion –it’s best to just ditch the boys (sorry guys!!) and spend a night with your favorite ladies. And the beauty of a girls’ night is that no activity is out of the question. Movie night and homemade snacks in your living room? Pulling out all the stops with dinner, drinks and dancing? Or perhaps a stress-free spa day and brunch on a lazy Sunday? Whatever form it takes, regularly scheduled bonding time with your girls is an absolute must.

When planning that fabulous get-together, start with X-Rated Fusion Liqueur cocktails. This hot pink liqueur is a sensuous blend of ultra premium French vodka, infused with blood oranges, passion fruit and mango. Sweet with just the right amount of sass, this playfully named potion will put you and your ladies in the right spirit for almost any memorable girlfriend get-together.
While I wouldn’t recommend you have too many of these before a DYI project of a night of stuffing your wedding invitations, it’s a perfect way to say THANK YOU LADIES. Gotta love these names…

Night Stand originally created by bartender Sarah Gammill of Donna’s Bar and Grill in New Orleans, LA
4 oz X-Rated Fusion Liqueur
2 packs of Raw Sugar
3 Lime Wedges
2 sprigs of Fresh Mint

Muddle raw sugar, mint and lime into the base of a shaker. Add ice and X-Rated Fusion Liqueur. Shake and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lemon twist ribbon.

Vintage Tinioriginally created at Vintage Spirits & Grill in Madison, WI

1 oz Flor de Cana 7 year
2 oz Pineapple Juice
