The summer makes me think of picnics in the park, great food and a wonderful bottle of crisp white wine. It also made me think of being with my girlfriends trying new wines and just how much fun that is. So why not have a wine tasting for your wedding shower or engagement party?
I happened upon Bottlerocket Wine and Spirit, a wine specialty shop located in the heart of the village. I spoke with Melissa Hall, the events manager at Bottlerocket and she assured me that they have hosted several wedding related events at this location.
Here is a bit from our conversation:
Melissa says: Generally speaking, we serve brides/couples that have an interest in wine or just want to add an element of fun and elegance to their events. Some examples include:
* Bridal showers aimed at making all generations of the brides' family and friends comfortable. We have done events with all sparkling wines and cupcakes, or a mix of wines selected from the country where the couple is honeymooning.
* Bachelorette parties (or pre-parties) we will pair yummy wines/specialty cocktails with hors d’oeuvres. This is great for all guests to come together and get to know each other in a tasteful and fun environment.
* Wine Tasting between the ceremony and the reception is a new opportunity to make your reception stand out from all the others. The bride and groom will chose wine with Melissa beforehand and then Bottlerocket will lead a tasting of the wines that the bride and groom love, with their wedding guests. The guests are entertained during this generally slow downtime and can then enjoy their favorite wine during the wedding. Totally Cool!!
* If you are thinking of giving a wonderful personalized and unique gift to a wine-loving couple then choose the “Private Wine Tasting” event that we have especially for the bride and groom. The couple gets a one-on-one session with a Tasting Leader focusing on a subject of interest. It is a romantic and unique gift. While this can be expensive, if the office chips in, it’s a great group gift. (Budget starts at $375).
For all couples that are interested in purchasing specialty wines, this company has a great selection of organic, biodynamic and environmentally sustainable wines. You know how much I love a good eco-find!! A wedding registry of wines and spirits can be opened at the 1 year, 5 year and 10 year anniversaries or compiled "starter cellars" giving the gift of daily wine pleasure.
To book an on-site event, the prices begin at $700 for about 20 people and average about $900. Offsite events start at about $340 (for approximately 15 people) for wine and a Tasting Leader. Personally, I think the later is a great bargain especially if you have a small bridal party. If anyone wants to start a gift of wine for me, your favorite bridal fairy god-mother…just kidding.
