Bride and Groom luxury items New York style

Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to attend a Luxury expo.  When they say luxury, they mean Maserati in the front, sail boat next to that and all the perks that someone with a few dollars to spare could want.  It made me wonder, “How many couples really have this kind of cash for their wedding (or beyond) and want to spend it.”  “Would they know where to go, what to do or who to speak with.”  Because I know you’re busy and well…I had the time, this is a short list of some of the great luxuries you can have if you have it like that.
There is power under them-thar wheels. Maserati Granturismo Convertible
Maserati is pure luxury.  While it looks ‘pretty cool’, the power when the key turns it over is ‘Va-Roooom’!!  Pure power, but smooth on taking the turns.  It handled wonderfully on the Haute streets of NYC even in traffic.  The only thing that stopped more traffic was people (especially the guys) drooling and quickly taking snaps of the photo with their mobile phone.
This convertible is the latest generation in the four-seat convertible history. This baby has 433hp, 4.7 ltr V8 engine, can top-out at 176 mph and six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters that delivers thoroughbred performance.  Things I loved included the touch-screen capacity that allows you to open doors, have the perfect set of tunes playing and speakerphone capability.  This company keeps your safety in mind.
If you can’t’ afford a Maserati (yet), they have some really cool gift items that would be wonderful to hold on to until you can get the really big toy.    $135.000
Don’t want to drive – take to the air in style
Sometimes taking to the air in a private jet, and traveling in style is more affordable than you think.  If you are traveling as a small group to a destination wedding, how about flying with Flexjet?

For over 15 years, Flexjet provided fractional 'ownership' allowing you to book and truly leave on a jet plane at your leisure and in pure comfort.   Originally only for corporate raiders, they now offer by the hour jet cards through the Flexjet 25 jet card program (operated by Jet Solutions).  This means you can literally buy hours, to be used whenever you want.  Want to fly to Napa for a glass of wine – done.  Need some sun in Miami to tan – done.  Craving for pizza (after your wedding naturally) and want to go to Chicago – No problem.

You can easily use their interactive models to create your own travel program. So it it's flying just the two of you or up to 10 of your closest friends, you will travel in comfort.

Flexjet has teamed up with Iron Chef Morimoto for the Ultimate Napa Valley Gift experience.  Imagine private flying to Napa and then having a private dinner, cooking lesson and sake tasting with a master chef.  Chef Morimoto and Meadowood Napa Valley are offering this ultimate experience, which includes Taste OF Napa Valley events, wine tastings, a hosted dinner party.  Not inexpensive, this starts at $124,900,

How about staying close to home
Club Macanudo is the premiere cigar lounge in New York City.  This was a hot spot during the early 90’s when the cigar craze took off and more women were puffing away.  While the number of woman may have diminished, Club Macanudo continues to thrive.  With its comfy leather chairs, over 130 varieties of cigars and a large list of wines and spirits, this is the club of choice to those in the know.
It’s not just about the cigars (even though they are premium) or scotch. They have a wonderful restaurant and full service menu (I would recommend the lamb or the burger – both yummy) and the warm chocolate truffles or Tuxedo Bombe (chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate) for dessert.
There is a private room for your own gathering, and if you really enjoy private humidors for you to lease.  What a wonderful way to celebrate your bacelor (or bachelorette) party, rehearsal dinner or just a night with family and friends.

Wine Wednesday: Campari celebrates your new life together

This fall when you make plans to celebrate the season, your engagement or post wedding celebration with friends and family, add an unexpected twist. Why not embrace the longtime ritual of the “aperitivo?” The aperitivo (which translates “to open”) has been an Italian tradition for more than a century, where friends and family mingle over cocktails and enjoy light appetizers to stimulate their appetite before the main meal that lies ahead.

This type of cocktail typically low in alcohol, traditionally features the world’s number one-selling aperitif, Campari. This very versatile spirit is made from the infusion of herbs, aromatic plants, fruit in alcohol and water. I think that serving Campari as you celebrate will be a good omen.  How?  Well, they are celebrating their 150th anniversary this year, so it should bring you and your marriage, the same good luck for the same longevity.

I hope you enjoy this collection of Campari aperitif cocktails from some of the best restaurants and notable mixologists in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles.  Today, I’m also including this yummy Mediterranean Crostini.

Cheers, don’t forget to drink responsibly and Happy Aperitivo!

Sorrento in Red
Served at Pulino’s Bar & Pizzeria in New York
1 ½ oz. Campari
1 oz. Limoncello
Splash of Tangerine Juice
Splash of Lime Juice
Dash of Orange Bitters

Pour ingredients over ice into a shaker. Shake and strain ingredients over ice into stemmed wine glass. No garnish.

Champino
Served at the Tarpit in Los Angeles
1 oz. Campari
1 oz. Sweet Vermouth
Splash of Champagne

Pour Campari and Sweet Vermouth over ice into a shaker.  Shake and strain into a coupe glass. Add a splash of champagne. Garnish with lemon twist.

Roasted Orange Negroni Sbagliato
Created by Joe Campanale of dell’Anima in New York
1 oz. Sweet Red Vermouth
1 ¼ oz. Campari
1 ¼ oz. Sparkling White Wine
1 Roasted Orange Wedge
Orange Peel for Garnish

Place the orange in a mixing glass and add vermouth. Muddle the two so that the charred bits are released into the vermouth. Add Campari and ice, and stir. Strain into a chilled rocks glass that is filled with ice and top with sparkling wine. Do not stir as this will dissipate the bubbles. Garnish with orange peel.

**Roasted Orange preparation: Slice oranges into wedges and place in a sealable container. Top with sweet red vermouth and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, remove oranges from the vermouth and char on a grill until the sugar caramelizes and black specks form on the oranges.

Mediterranean Crostini
Yields 4 Servings
150g Tomato Pulp
4 Slices of Homemade Bread
30g Pitted Olives
10g Fresh Oregano
2 Anchovy Fillets in Oil
2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Tablespoon of Capers in Salt
1 Clove of Garlic
Salt

1) Cut each slice of bread into 6 square/rectangular pieces. Arrange on a baking sheet and place in a preheated oven at 200°C for 5 minutes (or until toasted), turning halfway through the cooking time.

2) Meanwhile, wash and dry the oregano, scraping the leaves off the stems and chopping with a knife. Rinse the capers under running water to remove the salt then chop together with the anchovies.

3) Peel and crush the garlic then cook in a pan with a little oil until it softens. After about 5 minutes, remove the garlic, turn up the heat, add the capers, anchovies and coarsely chopped olives and stir. Sauté for 1 minute and then add the tomato pulp. Add a little salt and leave to cook for 10 minutes. Stir and turn off the heat.

4) Spread some of the mixture over each slice of toast and sprinkle the oregano over the top. Serve while still warm.

After work delights:
Inspired by the luxe, rustic elegance of the Alpine après ski lodges of St. Moritz, Covet Lounge effortlessly blends the best of both worlds: the sophistication and charm of uptown and ultra-sleek vibe of downtown. Covet’s haute Alpine coziness is combined with all the amenities New York City chic has to offer, and this is done through the harmonious pairing of distressed wood with embossed "croc-skin" paneling, and chrome accents. Covet Lounge will be hosting 'After Work Hour' taking place every Thursday evening this summer beginning August 5th at 5:30pm. Check them out as a rehearsal venue. The vibe is cool and the food yummy.
Covet is located at 137 E. 55th Street in New York City.

You know I love good food, good wine, good music and a cool vibe, which is why I’ve written and will continue to encourage you to visit San Rocco Restaurant. Honestly, the food and vibe will make you find a reason to return again and again.

LaLa Vazquez chooses Bridal Reflections and Romona Keveza for wedding reception attire

LaLa Vazquez and CArmelo Anthony

With several celebrity weddings this past weekend, none had more sparkle or style than the wedding of former MTV VJ LaLa Vazquez to NBA star Carmelo Anthony. While you’ve already seen LaLa in her bridal gown, it is her ‘reception/change outfit’ that she purchased at Bridal Reflections NYC, that you will hear about and see in the slideshow here first!

Brides, remember it’s not just where you purchase your wedding gown, it’s the service that comes with it. The impeccable service that each and every bride receives at Bridal Reflections makes it the most sought out bridal salons in NYC for couture dresses and five-star service. Often you’ll see my postings about ‘trunk shows’ because you just may find your dream dress. This is true and happened unexpectedly to LaLa just a few days before her wedding.

Original gown by Romona Keveza - front.

LaLa already had her wedding gown(s) (by Vera Wang), but after accompanying her bridesmaid to Bridal Reflections on Thursday, July 8th for their bridesmaid dresses, LaLa fell in love with a Romona Keveza gown displayed in the salon for their trunk show and tried it on. This particular gown was featured in Romona Keveza’s 10th anniversary collection and you guessed it; LaLa immediately fell in love with it, but…wanted just a few small changes. Bridal Reflections in their effort to have yet another happy bride, worked in overdrive to get her alterations done in time for her big day (which was just 2 days later!).

I had the opportunity to speak with Cristina DeMarco from Bridal Reflections who worked with LaLa on creating her dream dress. The vision was “to create a very fashion forward look. Changes were made to the a-line chiffon skirt, changing it into a hi-lo skirt (short mini front into ankle length in the back), which gave the gown a bubble hem finish creating a soft draping in a puddling effect. She truly has a one of kind gown!” Why did LaLa want a shorter front? I would suspect to show off her killer legs and dazzling shoes.

The original Romona Keveza gown was strapless with a sweetheart neckline, which highlights a voulant-textured bodice made of silk chiffon scattered with delicate Swarovski crystals. The soft flared skirt is made of silk chiffon. Accented at the waist, is an attached Swarovski crystal belt – just a little extra bling. The 2011 collection is equally beautiful and I hear the fall collection is one of her best yet.

Bridal Reflections is a favorite known as a full-service bridal salon, willing to go the extra-mile for all their brides. This is what I mean about service so I wasn’t surprised that they did this for LaLa. They create an environment that makes each of their brides feel like a celebrity.

I’m thrilled to once again keep you in the loop on exclusives as well as tell you about upcoming trunk shows. Here are a few that are at the Bridal Reflections NY flagship store, but check their other two locations in Long Island for upcoming dates and designers.

How do you choose wine for your wedding pt.1

You’ll be wearing your dream dress. Your cake will be delish and your first dance divine. Each moment of your reception however, will be memorable if you have a wine, champagne or signature cocktail that fits your personality. Beginning today and every Wednesday throughout Sept., you can look forward to information about wine, champagne and spirits. There will be recipes for cocktails as well as some cool 'tools' to add to your wedding registry. If you have any questions, I am lucky to have experts on hand that are ready, willing and able to answer them.

Today we’re going to focus on wine for your wedding and beyond. Like picking out a diamond it’s all about the 4Cs…when you pick a wine, it’s all about the 4Ss.

See: Tilt your glass to a 45-degree angle against a white background if at all possible. Look at the color/intensity of the wine. The rule of thumb is the more intense the color, the more intense the wine will taste.

Sniff: I always thought this was silly but you should give your wine a swirl to release the aromas. Wines that are from white grapes will smell like ‘white, yellow and orange-fleshed fruits like apples, pear and melon. Wines made from red grapes will smell like red and purple fruits like cherry and plum.
(Side note: when you are picking an after-dinner cordial, warm the glass first (with hot water – let the glass get just warmed and then dump the water out!!) and then pour your scotch, brandy or cordial into the glass. You won’t believe how quickly the flavor and aroma will be released. Try it!)

Sip: Take a small sip and swish it around (not like your gargling, but you’ve seen the movies….). Is the wine thick/full-bodied like ice cream or light-bodies like sorbet?

Summarize: Swallow the wine and what lingers? They say the longer the finish, the better the wine. Is the wine crisp and leaves your mouth feeling refreshed? If it’s a red wine, is it a smooth finish or ‘rough’?

Truly the bottom line is that you should really just serve what you like. If you would say “hmmm, I think I’ll have a second glass of that, then your guests are going to enjoy it as well.

San Rocco NYC authentic aperitivo bar and happiest happy hour

San Rocco NY
Aperitivo Bar at San Rocco NY

I can't think of a better way to celebrate the beginning of summer, your engagement, a night out with the girls/guys, or simply wine-Wednesdays, than to have a great Italian inspired cocktail at one of the hidden gems of New York. A special and exclusive offer is available for you, so read on.

San Rocco New York indulges the senses with a contemporary approach to Italian cuisine and excites the palate with classic “Dolce Vita” cocktails created by Bar Master Richard Boccato of Dutch Kills.

Each night San Rocco NY offers a generous aperitivo bar from 6:00-9:00pm. Aperitivo is meant to open and relax the palate before a meal. The concept is an important part of Italian life as a way of socializing and winding down after a day of work. It is much more than the happy hour cocktails we know and love in the U.S.; it typically entails an elaborate spread of “gratis” gourmet snacks when a cocktail or glass of wine is ordered. San Rocco NY boasts an impressive collection of Italian cocktails, Italian wines and beer available during the aperitivo.

Exclusively for my readers: To celebrate the beginning of my new Wine Wednesday column, San Rocco has graciously created a special offering. Print and bring a copy of this column, to San Rocco and you will receive a free Seperatist cocktail, every Wednesday night, beginning tonight, thru July 30th.

The food is light, fresh and they proudly boast the pasta, bread and ice cream is made fresh on the premises daily. I promise you once you experience their cuisine, this will be your new favorite place. So tonight is beautiful, grab your friends and experience summer the Italian way.

San Rocco is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Aperitivo Bar is offered from 6:00-9:00pm every night, complimentary with a cocktail, glass of wine or beer.

Montreal an ideal destination wedding location pt. 2

Do you have visions of having your wedding in a city that is a pioneer in the area of sustainable tourism? Maybe a short distance from NYC with a true French flair? I have the perfect place in mind for you to consider Montréal, Canada. It is the perfect escape when Paris or the euro isn’t an option. A short 3 hr plane trip away, it makes a wonderful and quick destination location to enjoy every moment from your engagement (a quick weekend trip perhaps) until after you “I Do”. It has charm that matches Old Europe, the finest in dining, architectural innovation and historic grandeur. With all that in mind, have you ever thought of Montreal as having the ‘heat’ of Miami??

Montréal is the world’s first city to have received the National Geographic Society’s Geotourism accreditation. This makes is a wonderful location for all things eco-friendly from airport, hotels, registries, restaurants and parks. In addition, if you are looking for a wonderful hotel there are many including, the Opus Montréal (a grand prize winner for tourism in Quebec) that I told you about yesterday.

On a recent trip, I discovered some people and places that I wanted to share with you as you possibly plan your visit or more importantly your wedding in Montreal.

Where should you get married?
Basilique Notre-Dame 110 Rue Notre Dame Ouest 514-842-2925 Céline Dion was married here and it’s a beautiful church.

Truly the magnificent St. Joseph’s Oratory on Mount-Royal (known for over 300 steps – I suggest you carry the Manolo and Jimmy’s up the stairs) 3800 Chemin Queen-Mary; 514 733-8211

Where you should consider resting your head or having your event?
Opus Montréal Hotel -10 Sherbrooke Street Ouest; 514 843-6000 Toll-free:1 866 744-6346 For more detailed information about this particular property, take a look at my article. They will truly make sure you have a magic-filled experience.

Hotel Inter Continental Montréal - 360 Rue Saint-Antoine Ouest; 514 987-9900

W Montreal Hotel - 901 Square Victoria, Montreal - (514) 395-3100

Where you should consider eating while you're there?
Koko Resturant + Bar 8 - Sherbrook Ouest; 514-657-5656 (koko) Electric vibe, great food and amazing

Garde Manager - 408 Saint Francois Xavier, Old Montréal; 514-678-5044 It’s a ‘small’ place but Chef Chuck Hughes is a celeb chef who will make you want to lick your plate…it’s that good!

Le Cartet - 106, rue McGill is a great place to meet up with your wedding planner. The food is good and it’s a community space that is warm and friendly.

Grange vin+ bouffe - 120 Rue McGill, Old Montréal; 514-394-WINE The beef is amazing and the wine cellar is spectacular. They have a bottle for every budget and honestly, I would highly recommend this for the Beef (so perfect for the guys night) eater in your life.

Schwartz’s - 3895 Saint-Laurent Blvd. 514-842-4813 – You’ve got to stop here for the best ‘smoked meat’ (corn beef and pastrami ever!) sandwich ever. I believe the Reuben sandwich originated here. Thank you Canada!!

Oh no, someone left a dress, shirt (you fill in the blank)! Where should you shop?
Known as the ‘underground city’ because it’s over 20 miles (or roughly over 1,700 shops, 200 restaurants and 40 movie theaters – just in case you have time to take in a movie) of shopping underground. Just enter at the beginning of Ste- Catherine St. and walk toward the über chic boutiques on Sherbrook Street. You will find everything and I do mean everything.

Grooms: If you need a new suit/shirt/or even complete tux Moores located at 1007 Ste. Catherines Ouest 514.845.1548 has it all. I’ve been told they can suit you up in as little as 24hrs.

My favorite wine shop is just at the entrance of Complexe Les Ailes – Saq, M-31-677, rue Ste Catherine 514.282.9445. Here you’ll find those last second bottles of champagne or a rare whiskey to toast your new beginning.

Did someone say Chocolate? If you need a ‘fix’ Suite 88 Choclatier offers some of the best in all of Canada. There are two locations, but I was at the one near Plateau Mont Royal – 3957, Rue Saint Denis 514.844.3488

Tomorrow the third and final part. Yes, I'm saving a bit of the best for last. Who can help you with all of this and make your life EASY....tune in tomorrow to find out.

Opus Montreal Hotel brings french flare to NY brides

Rooftop garden at Opus Hotel Montreal - photo from Opus Hotel

Opus Montréal is no ordinary boutique hotel. With 136 guestrooms combining sleek minimalism with luxurious comfort, the rooms range from 325sq ft. for the regular room, to my personal favorite the Presidential suite, which is a two-story penthouse, featuring a ‘floating bedroom’ and over 1100 sq feet of luxury. Consider their outdoor garden as a beautiful and romantic venue to host your wedding or the city’s most exclusive nightclub (just down stairs), to plan an over the-top-bachelor or bachelorette party.

Don’t worry about language barriers; Montreal is the largest bilingual city in North America so English is spoken widely. This however doesn’t take away from the culture and distinct French heritage. This city is fused with…magic. With so much to see in Montreal, wedding guests will be able to explore all that the city has to offer.

Looking for an environmentally friendly hotel? Opus has several environmental initiatives including the reduction of waste, recycle, conservation of water and energy by using fewer pollutants in the hotel and restaurant kitchens. They use regional, organically grown and in-season food where possible and encourage sustainable seafood options on the restaurant menus. This is a hotel that is committed to the environment in every possible way.

Chic, modern design and a nod to traditional Montréal style, OPUS Hotel Montréal has been an exclusive destination for A-list jet setters. Located in the heart of Montréal’s vibrant entertainment and restaurant district, the chic home-away-from-home is also host to the world renowned restaurant and nighttime haunt, KOKO Restaurant + Bar. The hotel made The Montréal Hit List” in the GQ May 2009 issue and listed as “Where to Stay” in Condé Nast Traveler’s Canada Now! issue.

I was told: “Fashion-forward isn’t our objective; it’s our way of life.”

From their furniture choices and home decor, to the glamorous Koko Restaurant and equally fashionable Suco Resto-Lounge, this hotel has everything you need, all under one roof. There is a true sense of sophistication, class and warmth that greets you from the moment you arrive. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and willing to provide you with recommendations about everything from shopping, sites to visit, to festivals that are happening around town.

Mixing the old and new with a toast to the future you plan to create. Opus Montréal Hotel is a gem whose shine is only dimmed by the beauty and joy of you, the happy couple. Je vous souhaite un inoubliable sejour dans de Montréal. I wish you a memorable stay in Montreal.

SKYY Vodka and SATC create the perfect designer cocktails

sex and the city SKYY Vodka
Thanks Skyy Vodka and SATC-2

In exactly one month, May 28, 2010, Sex and the City 2 will pick-up where the original left off. Of courses there will be some surprises (certain flash-backs, wedding(s – yes perhaps more than one) and does someone 'cheat'? What remains consistent; fashion, friendships and the love of a good cocktail.

So if you are planning your own Sex and the City themed bridal shower (because you’ve FOUND your Mr./Ms. Big) these are amazingly easy to make and … yes, I’ve tested them all and truly am a Park Avenue Princess.

Patricia Field not only helped with the fashions, she created the look for the limited-edition SKYY Vodka Sex and the City 2 bottle.

SKYY Vodka has a sweepstakes in the works for special locations throughout the globe. Winners receive tickets to the SATC2 premieres, advance screenings or other prizes. Fans in the U.S. will also have a chance to win a New York City shopping spree with Patricia Field. Sign up in the "membership" section of www.skyy.com or become a fan at Facebook.com/skyyvodka.

Bob Kunze-Concewitz, CEO of Gruppo Campari the parent company for SKYY said, "Sex and the City helped to define sophisticated cocktail culture around the world, and that tradition will continue as SKYY teams with Warner Bros. to give fans another reason to celebrate friendship, fashion and 'cocktail couture' with Sex and the City 2."

So which cocktail are you? Don't worry if you can't choose just one.

A classic cocktail with a sweet and colorful twist, the Glamour Gal is a girl’s best friend. Always uniquely dressed for the occasion and decked out from head to toe, she makes an entrance like only a true New York fashion maven can.

Dom Pérignon wedding collection

Dom Perignon
Beauty in a Dom Perignon bottle.

When you’re thinking about your first toast as husband and wife, I’m sure you want it to be as special and unique as your wedding ceremony. You’ve married your ‘prince charming’ and your champagne should be worthy of royalty right? Well I’m really happy to tell you that Dom Pérignon is launching into the bridal market this spring with something really special.

Dom Pérignon Wedding as it’s called, will consist of 12 bottles of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2000 along with a white lacquered box for your plus one of Dom. The 13th bottle comes with a silver label, which can be personalized with the bride and groom’s name and wedding date. This idea was inspired by the 1981 wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer and their wedding celebration, where all their bottles were engraved. What a way to celebrate?!

Celebrities like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, as well as Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony all toasted their nuptials with Dom Pérignon. Now you can add your name to that list. Here’s hoping that your marriage lasts forever and if you’re wondering what to do with that lucky number 13…save it until your first anniversary and toast to the next 50 years of happiness.

For more info: Choosing the right Champagne for you requires you learn a bit about them. Learn more about Dom Pérignon at http://www.domperignon.com/. Please enjoy responsibly.

An 80th birthday for Sylvia Weinstock

Sylvia Weinstock
The Grand Dame of butter cream, Sylvia Weinstock

On behalf of those of us in the industry and brides everywhere, I want to take a moment to wish the New York’s Cake Diva, Queen of Cakes, Grand Dame of butter cream designs, a very Happy Birthday. Sylvia Weinstock is celebrating her 80th birthday today and if you ever met Sylvia you know her spirit, youthful exuberance and work ethic are far younger than her actual years. In other words, she runs circles around us all.

What started as a wedding cake for her daughter’s friend, her cake was seen by NYC society caterer Donald Bruce White and as they say, the rest is history. While Sylvia has a star-studded clientele that includes the likes of Star Jones, Donald Trump, Michael Douglas & Katherine Zeta-Jones, Whitney Houston, Oprah Winfrey, Ted Turner and Mariah Carey, she makes amazing confectionary delights for couples worldwide.

All Sylvia’s cakes are custom designed and created according to the specifications of her clients. Not only do the cakes look beautiful, they taste delicious, because only the best available ingredients are used. Working with couples to pick their cake design and filling, Sylvia believes it’s acceptable to mix layers creating ‘surprise flavors’, not only for the guests but their guests. So you can have one layer chocolate and the other a completely different (but complimentary) flavor. Taking an element from the brides gown or veil are often incorporated in the cake design adding to the beautiful personal touch.

Her most recent book Sweet Celebrations contains recipes, designs, techniques, tips and illustrations of her cakes, with instructions for creating some fairly simple cakes that the reader can try at home. This is a great book to give to your favorite DIY bride, or anyone that just wants to make a cake that is a feast for the eyes and great tasting. It is one of my favorite coffee table books and should be a book you have on your shelf.

Sylvia is often seen at bridal showcases, handing out cake often to stunned brides. Let’s face it, Sylvia is a rock-star in the wedding industry and how often do stars ‘mingle’ with their fans. In her case, every chance possible and for that we are all grateful. She was seen last year at a wedding professional event dancing up a storm and because she is so, well 'normal' it's just another reason we love her.

So happy birthday dear Sylvia, you are truly the Leonardo da Vinci of the cake world and we are so grateful to you. Thank you for your passion about weddings. Thank you for setting the standard so many strive to achieve. Thank you for just being you. May you have many, many more.

For more information about Sylvia take a look at her website.

Top 2009 eco-friendly and eco-chic vendors

The cotton bride dream dresses for the bride and momthers

I love the overwhelming response I received when I started eco-Wednesday. You folks ROCK!! It proved that there are couples that are truly committed to making this planet a safer place. You are dedicated to finding vendors who had the same belief in your values and you know what – you have the buying power and boy did it show.

Recently, I’ve been asked to write some articles in an upcoming eco-wedding magazine and I’ve been hard at work gathering information for it. What that means for you – you will have another medium to find the best there is in eco-chic wedding information. Don’t cha’ love it? I do.

Here are some of my favorite eco-friendly folks and know that narrowing it down to these was a really, really tough job. I hope that the people, places and things that I highlight in 2010 will be just as exciting and dedicated to saving our planet.

The Cotton Brideand Adele Wechsler both have couture bridal collections for the lifestyles, interests of today’s eco-chic bride. That means they are fun, flirty and good to the environment.

My Personal Artists - uses of original one-of-a-kind hand-painted / hand-illustrated artwork, to create a lovely keepsake for you and your family.

Milo Paper - colorful, fun, innovative, and spunky are just some of the words that come to mind when you choose Milo Paper.

Creative Custom Card Boxes - When you want something beautiful to collect your wedding envelopes that is truly personalized these unique and eco-friendly boxes are the key.

Aglow Soy Candle - Soy is so good when it comes to lighting your future together. Adding a bit of bling creates something that creates additional sparkle to your special night.

Dogeared Jewels and gifts - Most designers suggest that gems worn on your wedding day, be simple and meaningful. Dogeared meets both requirements along with being super stylish and provides enough styles for the entire bridal party. You will be giving and wearing those good vibes.

Marc Wilson Design wedding blooms

We are just a few days until 2010 an if you are looking for someone to design your wedding (or maybe you need someone to get your last-minute New Years even party…), then by all means call Marc Wilson Design. Marc gets to know you, your vision and then brings it to life. When we met this summer – before the colors for 2010 were announced, he told me what he thought would be hot for this upcoming season. Sure enough his predictions were true. If he has that much insight on colors, six months before they are announced, imagine what he can do to make your dreams a reality.

This is not to say that there aren’t lots of wonderful event design houses out there, but remember I don’t and WON’T recommend anyone that I wouldn’t use myself. Marc truly creates an event that is elegance personified.
