Guys very own Fashion's Night Out
Posted by Yours In BridalGuys. Fashion Night Out has some great opportunities for you to get your shopping on as well.
Let’s start with things that are really important…liquid libations:
While I can appreciate beer, you can have it anytime. Why not try something that you may want to have served with your groomsmen or perhaps your new Father In Law:
Ralph Lauren downtown will have lots of shopping opportunities along with Champagne, and Jessica Alba will be helping guests pick out fabulous clothes.
Ralph Lauren – 379 West Broadway
Ben Sherman is known for (96 Spring St.; 212-680-0160) where Glenmorangie Scotch and Newcastle Kegs will quench your thirst
Ben Sherman - 96 Spring St
Don't let the otent pink Belvedere IX drink fool you and show your sensitive side. Molton Brown has some of the bath products that you will love. Try the Black Pepper bathwash.
Molton Brown -128 Spring St.
Andaz 5th Avenue and Downtown at Inven.tory owners Whitney Singer, Mike Townsend and Kat Berkery will serve whiskey from 400-year-old distillery Bushmills.
Andaz - 5th Avenue 485 Fifth Ave
Inven.tory - 232 Lafayette St
Billy Reid's store will host a night of Southern Hospitality with refreshments and spirits, and an exclusive band playing live in the store.
Billy Reid - 54 Bond Street
I’m really lovin’ the suits and great casual wear at Against Nature Atelier who are actually celebrating their one-year anniversary tonight. Guys, you really have to check them out and with Hendrick’s Gin as a sponsor, you’ll at the very least have a great cocktail.
Against Nature Atelier - 159 Chrystie St
Bloomingdale’s SoHo during Fashion’s Night Out. You’ll peruse chalk-striped suits, brogue shoes, club-collared dress shirts and everything else you’ll need for that daring moonlight liquor run you’ve been planning.
Bloomingdales Men’s Department - 504 Broadway
Guys, no matter where you and check out your favorite stores in NYC and Brooklyn. It’s a great night to have fun and give back to the economy.
Happy Fashion’s Night to all.

SATC2: Men lookin' good inspire grooms worldwide
Posted by Yours In Bridal
Dior and Ralph Lauren styled the tuxes in SATC2
Grooms let me tell you something and you’ve probably heard it at least once before. "This is your wedding too." So what does that mean? Your guests may oooh-ahh over your bride, but they are also checking out what you’re wearing. Trust me. Since you are also on center stage, why not do everything you can to look just as good?
Begin with making sure that your skin looks great (remember photoshop can only do so much!). Here are a few suggestions for you.
MiN New York Apothecary & Atelier has a real cool vibe. You’ll never feel rushed or pressured to purchase anything. Go, take a look around and feel free to ask Chad any question you have. My other new favorite for men is, Dermalogica located in Soho. They have a very simple skincare approach system that you’ll have no trouble following. Of course if you just want to check out a website that has volumes of information, turn to Craig the Barber. He is a professional barber and men's grooming expert who can answer questions from 'what to do about your sensitive skin' to 'why 'green-tea' actually helps your skin' too.
Gone are the days of ‘one tux fits all’. It’s all about your personal style. If your wedding is on the beach, I don’t expect you to be in a tux (unless you want to – there are no rules!!). The men in the Sex and the City 2 movie captured the look of a well-dressed man at a wedding and you and your groomsmen can too. Need some help, these are the men behind the clothes:
Stanford wore Christian Dior homme and Carrie wore a slim-legged Christian Dior tux as Best-woman.
John Preston (AKA: Big) looked wonderful in Ralph Lauren
Anthony knew that it was time to turn in his ‘wedding planner attire’ for the cool and clean look of Dolce&Gabbana
All of these shops are located in nationwide, ready to help you find your best look.
I know you may think that all eyes are on her, and it’s not a big deal, but trust me – it is. Sadly, this may be the only time your bride sees you looking this amazing. I say, start a new trend - men wanting to look good for the women they love. You should invest in a great suit as the trend grows to ‘renew vows’…this way, you don’t have to keep renting.
The bottom line is, let this be the first of many times you take your brides breath away. This will be an investment well worth it.

Stationery 2011 reflects the changing 'wedding' dynamic
Posted by Yours In Bridal
From Him to Him
At the National Stationery Show, there was row after row of cards, colors and ideas showing off trends for 2011. Next week I'll share some of my bet picks but for now, and since we (ok me, since I saw it last night) are in the early hours of SATC2 viewing, the wedding is (spoiler alert) between Anthony and Stanford. Mario Cantone, who plays Anthony said, " This wedding kills two birds with one stone. Putting us together really officially makes us a part of the family — the 'Sex and the City' family."
While they went with a more 'traditional invitation', I want to share "From Him to Him" a card company I found at the National Stationery show, who has cards for same-sex couples. While this is a very small market I think as more states allow same-sex marriages, this share of the business will grow.
2011 Wedding Stationery Trends:
Natural pallets are big for 2011. Blue of the ocean, tan of the beach, purple and gold of sunsets. With that being said, turquoise is being used like never before. For some cultures, turquoise has been seen as a protective and caring color. Now because it was chosen by Pantone as color of the year, it quickly made it's way to wedding invitations. Universally seen as a fun and playful color that has been used for destination weddings, the color is now making it's way into the mainstream.
Ink colors that are hot include: coral, sage green, butter yellow, bright purple, silver/slate gray and metallic.
Joy of Soy: Traditional inks are being replaced by eco-friendly soy ink. 'Green' papers and ink speak to your eco-friendliness without screaming it to your guests.
Understated elegance and romance is making a come back.
Custom illustrations are making a big statement. Everything from save the dates to illustrated maps show the personality of the couple.
It was really wonderful to see that more designer are using color in their lines. Don't worry, the very traditional cream/ivory with gold-leaf it going anywhere, anytime soon. The market is demanding that invitations reflect the consumer: a diverse market and culture.
Tomorrow I'll have my final piece on SATC2. The designers who dressed the men of Sex and the City are truly an amazing group and designers for your groom and his men. There's nothing better than a well dressed man at a wedding or anytime...

SKYY Vodka and SATC create the perfect designer cocktails
Posted by Yours In Bridal
Thanks Skyy Vodka and SATC-2
In exactly one month, May 28, 2010, Sex and the City 2 will pick-up where the original left off. Of courses there will be some surprises (certain flash-backs, wedding(s – yes perhaps more than one) and does someone 'cheat'? What remains consistent; fashion, friendships and the love of a good cocktail.
So if you are planning your own Sex and the City themed bridal shower (because you’ve FOUND your Mr./Ms. Big) these are amazingly easy to make and … yes, I’ve tested them all and truly am a Park Avenue Princess.
Patricia Field not only helped with the fashions, she created the look for the limited-edition SKYY Vodka Sex and the City 2 bottle.
SKYY Vodka has a sweepstakes in the works for special locations throughout the globe. Winners receive tickets to the SATC2 premieres, advance screenings or other prizes. Fans in the U.S. will also have a chance to win a New York City shopping spree with Patricia Field. Sign up in the "membership" section of www.skyy.com or become a fan at Facebook.com/skyyvodka.
Bob Kunze-Concewitz, CEO of Gruppo Campari the parent company for SKYY said, "Sex and the City helped to define sophisticated cocktail culture around the world, and that tradition will continue as SKYY teams with Warner Bros. to give fans another reason to celebrate friendship, fashion and 'cocktail couture' with Sex and the City 2."
So which cocktail are you? Don't worry if you can't choose just one.
A classic cocktail with a sweet and colorful twist, the Glamour Gal is a girl’s best friend. Always uniquely dressed for the occasion and decked out from head to toe, she makes an entrance like only a true New York fashion maven can.

Thanks SKYY Vodka and SATC-2

Dom Pérignon wedding collection
Posted by Yours In Bridal
Beauty in a Dom Perignon bottle.
When you’re thinking about your first toast as husband and wife, I’m sure you want it to be as special and unique as your wedding ceremony. You’ve married your ‘prince charming’ and your champagne should be worthy of royalty right? Well I’m really happy to tell you that Dom Pérignon is launching into the bridal market this spring with something really special.
Dom Pérignon Wedding as it’s called, will consist of 12 bottles of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2000 along with a white lacquered box for your plus one of Dom. The 13th bottle comes with a silver label, which can be personalized with the bride and groom’s name and wedding date. This idea was inspired by the 1981 wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer and their wedding celebration, where all their bottles were engraved. What a way to celebrate?!
Celebrities like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, as well as Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony all toasted their nuptials with Dom Pérignon. Now you can add your name to that list. Here’s hoping that your marriage lasts forever and if you’re wondering what to do with that lucky number 13…save it until your first anniversary and toast to the next 50 years of happiness.

Valentine's Day gift for your groom, but you'll like it too
Posted by Yours In Bridal
The Forgetful Genteman - remembers.
So I’m going to tell you a secret that I’m sure many of you share. I love a well dressed, well put together man. I love a man that reads the newspaper and I see a man reading a book on the train, a part of me melts. If he takes the time to write a note INSIDE the Hallmark card he truly has me at the first word. There is just something about a man…

When I was at the New York Gift Fair a few weeks ago, I came across a booth that stopped me in my tracks. It wasn’t the flashiest but the product made me swoon. There were two gentlemen (Nate and Brett) and they have the answer to every man’s “I don’t have time”, “I forgot” or my personal favorite “I’ll just send an email”. At the Forgetful Gentleman they believe that in the increasingly digital and impersonal world that there is something classy and very personal: the hand written note. They are trying to bring the “sexy back” in note writing.

Their beautiful cigar-like box removes all obstacles that keep men from writing and sending notes. They have masculine cards; a writers guide (guys, you can just steal the text and fill in the blanks) and they even include postage. To make things a bit easy for the ‘forgetful man’, there is a personalized email and sms event reminder service to help.

This is a great Valentines gift to give to your honey either as a gift or as the actual letter writer. Guys I tell you, if you ever want to get out of the dog-house…send a note. It works for my husband.
For more information visit the Forgetful Gentleman site by clicking here.

Get your groom on for Valentines Day
Posted by Yours In Bridal
Craig the Barber photo with his permission
Hey Grooms,
I know it's Superbowl weekend, but Valentines Day is just around the corner. What I've heard from several of you is, you want to know the 'right' way to get a close shave. Well, I've turned to my Celebrity Stylist Craig (AKA Craig the Barber) and he has given me some pointers that are guarenteed to teach you how to get the right shave be it Valentine's or your Wedding day.
There are many men that cannot shave with a razor for a variety of reasons (skin irritation, contact cuts and nicks, etc.) and choose to shave with an electric shaver. However, I often hear complaints that they just cannot get a shave that lasts. Here's how to do it!
(1) Start dry- for electric shavers, you need your beard to be dry to the touch in order to maximize the cutting capability of your shaver. Never wash you face before you shave with an electric razor.
(2) Consider a pre-shave solution- no not a pre-shave oil, more like the modern version on Lectric Shave. This works just like a pre-shave oil, it creates a protective barrier on your skin and lifts your hair to allow for a closer shave. These solutions work well with trimmers as well (Brands- Jack Black , Anthony Logistics, Lab Series).
(3) Sensitive areas 1st- many electric shavers can generate heat quickly during the course of a shave. Heat generally irritates your skin more (if it is sensitive). So shave the sensitive areas (i.e. neck) first, while the shaver is still cool.
(4) Know your shaver-to get the best out of your shaver, Rotary - shave in small circular motions; Foil - shave with the grain and against on a case by case basis.
(5) Avoid Rubbing Alcohol- rubbing alcohol dries and hardens the skin, (ex. - novice hikers use rubbing alcohol to harden the soles of their feet, while guitarists use it to harden their fingertips). Instead rinse your face, then apply an after shave balm that is designed to soothe, heal and moisturize your skin.
(6) Clean- shavers must be maintained to maximize their cutting ability. So, clean after every shave or wait no longer than after every 3 uses. Replace the screen and blades once year, in foil shavers.
Give it a try and let me know how it works out! For more great tips check out his website or fan him on Facebook.

A smart groom chooses Smartbox™ for his groomsmen
Posted by Yours In Bridal
Hey Grooms-to-be! If this is your first time reading my monthly column dedicated just for you, WELCOME! If you are a regular reader, great to see you again. Today, we're going to tackle (go JETS!!) a fun topic. What to give your groomsmen.
Deciding on a gift to the guys that are standing up for you can be a challenge. A unique token of appreciation because your guys are special and this is a special time. Let’s face it, your groomsmen are not the normal ‘cuff-links’ or beer mug crew.
I also know looking for the gift, that is special can be difficult. With helping your fiancée with wedding plans, you need to find a gift that lets them know you appreciate them each in a unique way. But will you have time to personalize each and every gift.
Well I’m here to say, don’t rack your brain. Be smart and give a “Smartbox™”. This takes the stress out of groomsmen gift giving.
This innovative gift provides unforgettable experiences for the ‘giftee’ at a reasonable expense for you. You can choose from over 2,200 experiences offered by over 1,800 partners Nationwide.
1. You choose the type of gift box from the six categories available: Fun for All, Adventure, Gourmet Retreats, Adrenaline, Charming Getaways and Serenity
2. The recipient uses the guidebook enclosed in the box to choose among the many possible options. This may be the hardest part for them, because there are so many wonderful options.
3. Once they decide, they reserve their experience directly with the vendor and turn in the voucher at the time of the experience and enjoy. There are no extra fees to worry about. The guidebook even offers details on where to stay overnight and eat in the area of the experience.
Everyone is happy. So they can hike it, indulge it, tour it, bobsled it, off the road it, just do it and have fun at it. The Smartbox™ motto is: 'Get it. Give it. Live it…'
What a great concept –many experiences in one box and the hardest thing for you to do, is pick the ‘theme’ of box. Let the recipient pick the ‘gift’. There may actually be a way to “match your wedding theme to the potential gifts in the box”. What I love the most (beyond all the awesome variety) is there is NO Expiration Date.
Because the people at Smartbox™ are committed to good times, stress-free gift giving and want couples to live ‘happily ever after’ they are sponsoring a give-a-way. They are offering one lucky groom-to-be the Adrenaline gift box.
Adrenaline gift box- some of the most exhilarating activities to choose from, including: climbing a slippery frozen waterfall, racing around a track on a motorcycle and more. The Adrenaline gift box retails for $299.
If you want more information about Smartbox™ experiences, or to purchase a Smartbox™ securely online, please visit http://www.smartbox.com/us. Smartbox™ can also be found at Amazon.com, Border’s, Duane Reade and Sam’s Club.
To win your own Adrenaline gift box, here’s what you have to do:
- You must be a subscriber to either this blog or the bridalease column.
- You must be getting married to someone amazing (well that’s the easy part – tell me who they are)
- What’s your wedding date, and location
- Tell me what your gives you that boost of Adrenaline
- Finally, tell me who or what you would like to see me cover in 2010. It can be a person, place or thing.
You have from today January 14, 2010 until January 22, 2010, 1:22pm to enter. Please send your answers to bridalease2win(at)gmail(dot)com, put Adrenaline in the subject line. This gift is purely an opportunity between Smartbox™ and you (the potential winner). Good luck!
