Monique Lhuillier Fearless Fall 2010 collection

Monique Lhuillier has given birth not only to her beautiful new daughter, but to a collection that is powerful. For many brides, you may not know that along with her bridal line, she has an large Hollywood following for her RTW and it often graces all the red carpets. This season under the tent, she created Hollywood couture, drawing her inspiration from Chinese warriors and military suits. Did she know that her show would happen during the Chinese New Year, I’m not sure. What I do know is it worked!

Like her bridal wear the lines were clean; but there were strong silhouettes with strong chic edges. She had long sleeves, no sleeves, strong shoulders and mile-high leg slits. Easily any of these pieces could be transferred into bridal, bridesmaids or mother of the bride/groom attire. I sincerely hope you enjoy the photos.

Oh, as an aside, Monique looked amazing having just given birth to a her baby girl only 2 months ago. Amazing that she seems to be the queen of multi-births…soon to have a triplet with her new bridal collection.

Fall Color trends for your wedding décor to consider, based on the Monique Lhuillier RTW collection: Crimson Red, Slate, Dusty Rose, Gold, Navy, Bordeaux, Merlot, Deep Plum, and Black, along with dragon printed jacquards, velvets and liquid lace. Urben Wed event with Brooklyn Bride

I really hope you’ve been enjoying the Fashion week articles. There are only a few more for next week, including some great fashions from some of our fav bridal designers liike Monique Lhuillier. However, I really wanted to take some time today to share all the events I’m finding out about that are happening…well, soon! They are nation wide, so from the east coast to the west coast there is something for you. Let’s start in my hometown…Brooklyn is in the wedding house in full-effect!!

Brooklyn is HAUTE the month of March with several events, truly something for everyone.

This is going to be the premiere wedding event in Brooklyn. Hosted by Brooklyn Brides’ own Vané, Urban Wed is kept intentionally intimate so you can score solid one-on-one time with all attendees. After all, what you need is the personal touch not to be rushed through, right? I would strongly recommend that you sign up for this the evnt on March 23 or March 24, from 5-8:00pm. Naomi Campbell's Fashion for Relief rocked Bryant Park NYC

“I am deeply saddened by the recent tragedy in Haiti. So many have been killed and severely affected by the earthquake – women and children in particular are most vulnerable in disasters. Fashion is universal, personal and touches everyone. Our aim is to use this season’s catwalk shows in New York to reach people and help raise crucial funds to help save the lives of women and children.” Naomi Campbell

We were all touched by the mass destruction that occurred in Haiti. Well, one model –put the “SUPER” on her chest and decided to do something about it. Naomi Campbell pulled together a spectacular charity fashion show on Feb 12th in NY during fashion week. The NY star-studded runway show was standing room only, all there to benefit the relief efforts of CARE, who is helping to rebuild Haiti’s healthcare system especially for Haiti’s women and children.

Hosted by Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York (the original Fergie) and several VIP celebrities including: Christy Turlington, Kelly Osborne, Estelle, Donna Karen, Agyness Deyn (who took a fall in her Burberry heels, twice – a very Carrie in sex and the city moment. Like Carrie, she received a round of applause when she kicked them off and strutted down the runway), Victoria Secret model Selita Ebanks, Daphne Guinness, Chris Brown and others. In the audience, a mix of celebrities, designers, ‘regular people’ and more press than I’ve seen at any other show. This was truly the hottest ticket of the season. It was an amazing hour long show with great music, great fashion and beautiful people.

For me, this was a very personal event. In 1990, I visited this beautiful and misunderstood country with my friend Fritz Alfred. He ‘brought me home’ to visit his country and I fell in love with the beauty of the people, the food, and the magic of the culture. My heart breaks to see what has happened, but is lifted at their future possibilities. So here’s to Naomi Campbell and everyone who has donated and will continue to donate to the various organizations that are providing help to Haiti. This show proved that we really aren’t that different and together we can make anything happen.

Cut-outs are in this "Edition" for Georges Chakra

If you’ve never been to an actual runway show, you may not know this, but writers/editors receive a “run of the show” sheet or sometimes a packet which tells you about the designers vision for that season, information about every design you will see on the runway and then all the other things like who did make-up, hair, music etc. At the Georges Chakra show, no such luck. I happened to be lucky enough to have a backstage pass thanks to the ladies of Dashing Diva who did their nails. I was told that the color was dark, gothy and reminiscent of ‘dried blood’. So that set the tone for me.

“Edition by Georges Chakra” was a mix of asymmetrical and contemporary clothing design, inspired from Lucio Fontana, an Argentinean painter and sculptor. Lucio is known for his lacerated canvases and this inspiration made it’s way to the Chakra collection. I’m sure that many of these designs will be on the red carpet this season.

I’m so excited and ready to see what he has in store for bridal market. I won’t be surprised to see some of these same RTW gowns in bridal white.

Over the Moon with Lela Rose 2010 Collection

The fall 2010 Lela Rose collection takes the “craggy, shattered landscape” of the moon and earth as seen on the Galapagos Islands via telescope and creates a collection that is texturally beautiful. The sprayed graphical look creates an out of this world ‘edge’ to some of the pieces and yet they all flow together creating a spectacular vision of the moon and stars. I believe that the cocktails dressed are a perfect alternative for a certain type of wedding; these dresses can be easy, breeze and casual. Not your wedding dress type, how about something beautiful for your engagement party or rehearsal dinner?

I loved the gowns and if the mother of the bride is looking for something that is classic and not the typical look, Lela Rose could be the answer.

Finally, I can't wait until the Lela Rose Bridal Show in April. I'm sure that the designs will be equally as beautiful and just as magical.
